Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday offered a vocal defense of the National Security Agency's mass collection of U.S. phone call data, saying the program is "hugely important" to keeping Americans safe from terrorists.
During a foreign policy speech in Chicago, the likely Republican candidate for president said the mass surveillance is an essential ingredient in the fight against those seeking to do harm to the United States.
"That requires responsible intelligence-gathering and analysis, including the NSA metadata program, which contributes to awareness of potential terrorist cells and interdiction efforts on a global scale," Bush said. "For the life of me, I don't understand [how] the debate has gotten off track, where we're not understanding and protecting—we do protect our civil liberties, but this is a hugely important program to use these technologies to keep us safe"

This would be way easier to buy if the open part of America’s foreign policy made sense. But it doesn’t. Why should we believe this is any less venal because it is secret? All honor is gone.

I will NOT be voting for Jeb Bush for POTUS. There is no reason to do so. You can try and paint the democrat candidate as something different, but I will view it as overly-slick advertising and not a reason to vote for Jeb Bush.
I have yet to see anything that separates him from Hillary on any point, including his love of other people’s money.

People like Jeb are the problem not the solution.
All of the things he thinks are hugely important are hugely important.

Well, since 99% of Congress unfortunately agrees with him he has plenty of company.
I'd like to see any Republican of note step forth and declare that he or she will wage an independent candidacy if the GOPe is dumb enough to put forward Jeb. Such a candidate would, at least, bring out people to help the GOP down ticket.
