ate in the evening of Sunday, January 18, an eleven-member delegation of tribal leaders from Iraqs western Anbar Province arrived in Washington, D.C. Just as their plane was touching down, Islamic State units back in Iraq attacked the compound of one of the delegations senior leaders, Sheik Ahmed Abu Risha, killing nine Iraqi police officers and wounding 28 of the sheiks guards. A nearby Iraqi military unit failed to respond to repeated calls for help.
The brutal attack underscored the purpose of the Anbar delegations visit: The tribal leaders believed that they could defeat the Islamic Statebut only if the Obama administration would agree to ship them weapons directly, bypassing Iraqs untrustworthy Ministry of Defense.
Yet after they arrived in Washington the tribal leaders found themselves thwarted at every turn in their efforts to meet with high-level administration officials. They were told they would have to take up these matters with new Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and would have to rely for weapons on those provided to them by Abadis ministry of defense.
Thats when George W. Bush called Abu Risha at his hotel in Washington.

I could not believe that video of Obama. The man has personally demeaned the office of the presidency of the United States, the most important job in the world, to the point where he is a laughingstock who gets no respect at all.
I wonder if the office can recover.
Uh-oh ... it’s going to end up being “Bush’s fault” again ...
Many said the same thing about the Presidency when Clinton left, I think GWB did a marvelous job of restoring dignity to the office. Of course, the democrats/liberals couldn’t stand it, so they brought the man down not giving a damn what they did to the office, the troops, the country and everything that stood in their way. Relentless, day after day minute by minute they took him apart.
You’re right. GW was commanding and decisive, and subject to relentless attacks by the libs. I wish he had defended himself a bit more. But then I guess he wouldn’t be the man he was in office, and remains to this day.
If he is making a phone call and getting involved, it must be extremely serious.
I’m not sure it can sink any lower. I’m guessing if the Hildebeast gets in, I highly doubt we will get a video of her twerking.
Those photo’s are the true bozo in the white house.
Because of him Libya , the middle east and elsewhere is a right mess now.
He screwed up Iraq and now wants to do the exact thing in Afghanistan. He has screwed N Africa up and Islamic loons are taking over while he does pathetic interviews, goes on vacation, plays golf and, pushes his homosexual social justice crap.
BO is just catering to his dumb a$$ voters who don’t have but one brain cell. How embarrassing.
Loony-toons shill at Politico, supports the genocidal policies of Barack Hussein Obama.
What the hell is going on? I personally like that W. is involved, but was he asked to do this? Is George acting in open defiance of the Obama Gang or what? I know past Presidents like Carter tend to insert themselves without being asked, but for George W. Bush to do this... I don’t understand. Has Obama informally relinquished control of certain aspects of his presidency? Wait till the looney left hears about this. To the libs, publicly giving George W. Bush the president treatment, is far worse than Glozell Green and her bathtub of fruit loops.
Fixed Headline.
Bush apparently felt like he had to make some phone calls on these people's behalf because they are now getting slaughtered (after helping crush Al Qaeda in Iraq in 2007-2008) and Obama is doing jack crap about it so that he can play footsie with the Iranians.
It’s not what happened, it’s how it was told. BDS continues.
And how do you know that? Seems like a positive article about Bush for once, pointing out that he’s taking what action he can as ex-Prez while Obama and his flunkies diddle.
“Iraq, after all, was Bush’s baby...” — followed by the various cold shouldering that went on, speculation or rumors about why His Zeroness is taking the tack that he is, and setting up a nice blame shift onto GWB and Senator McCain for the inevitable fiasco to follow. IOW, your question makes no sense.
