The 2nd Amendment Is For Muskets Only?! [Good points for future Reference]
Bearing Arms ^ | February 11, 2015 | Bob Owens

The more you dive into researching the actual history of the Second Amendment, the more you understand that it was specifically written to include more technologically advanced weaponry.

Steven Crowder points out that the Second Amendment was written at a time when private citizens could acquire multi-shot rifles, multi-shot pistols, crew-served weapons that were the forerunners of modern auto-cannon and machine guns, hand grenades, rockets, cannon, mortars, howitzers, torpedoes, submarines, and ships-of-the-line… 18th century battleships that were the “weapons of mass destruction” of their time, capable of leveling coastal cities.

The Founders never intended to limit the citizenry to single-shot muskets, which were already technologically old-hat at the time the Bill of Rights was created. They clearly wanted the citizenry armed with the best weapons of contemporary military utility that they could afford to buy.

It’s too bad the historically-ignorant (and/or intentionally dishonest) forces of gun control refuse to admit and deal with these unquestioned facts.

If the Second Amendment is only for muskets, then the First Amendment is only for Gutenberg presses.

Be very careful with that argument. The forces of tyranny are very intent on shutting down the First Amendment, too.

And general welfare means that poor people get bags of corn meal, not EBT cards.

Excellent video, reminding us of what arms were known (if not common) when RKBA was written.

He makes that point in the video.

Problem is the so-called Liberals would also like to destroy that freedom as well - not for themselves, but for everyone else.

Free-speech for me but not for thee.

Exactly - the nation’s socialist left would love to shut that down as well.

At the time of the revolution, the Kentucky long rifle was the most accurate weapon known. They were already in private hands (the militia).

There’s a reason that many Leftists have admitted to wishing the Second Amendment was abolished entirely. Their attempts at reducing the Second Amendment to a meaningless statement of duties have convinced none except the most brainless of citizens.

We should therefore be focusing our efforts against activist judges who ignore the Constitution outright, as well as against liberal campaigns for abolishing 2A.

I,ll just note that the muzzies with all of their restrictions on the more modern things and techniques not in the Koran, oddly have no fatwas against RPGs, full auto AKs, IEDs with shaped charges, nukes, etc.

PM is a nancyboy brit, unaccustomed to our civics education. He fails to know history and claims “fact” when he is on the loosing side of our Revolutionary War.

“Fact” is that the 2nd extended to all weaponry of the day including cannons and explosives. His “musket” comment is born of typical liberal stupidity and ignorance.

If we all disarm, only muzzies will be armed and we will be finished as a nation.

We will have been Europeanized.

And today the bolt action rifle is the most accurate rifle, so why do liberals want to ban the inaccurate AK-47?

True, they said "arms". Since the military does not use muskets, it could be argued that the Second Amendment does not protect them. Everything else used by the military or an irregular militia is actually "in".
