Ukrainians Rage Against Military Draft: "We're Sick Of This War"
Zerohedge ^ | 2-10-2015 | Durden

When Ukrainian army officers came to the Ukrainian village of Velikaya Znamenka to tell the men to prepare to be drafted, they weren’t prepared for what happened next. As the commanding officer was speaking, a woman seized the microphone and proceeded to tell him off: "We’re sick of this war! Our husbands and sons aren’t going anywhere!" She then launched into a passionate speech, denouncing the war, and the coup leaders in Kiev, to the cheers of the crowd.

What she did is now a crime in Ukraine: the only reason she wasn’t arrested on the spot is that the villagers wouldn’t have permitted it. But in Ukrainian Transcarpathia, well-known journalist for Ukrainian Channel 112 Ruslan Kotsaba has been arrested and charged with "treason" and "espionage" for making a video in which he declared: "I would rather sit in jail for three to five years than go to the east to kill my Ukrainian brothers. This fear-mongering must be stopped." Kotsaba may sit in jail for twenty-three years, the prescribed term for the charges filed against him.

Kotsaba’s arrest is part of a desperate effort by the Ukrainian government to intimidate the growing antiwar and anti-draft movement, which threatens to upend Kiev’s dreams of conquering the rebellious eastern provinces. Kotsaba’s particular crime, according to prosecutors, was in describing the conflict as a civil war rather than a Russian "invasion." This is a point the authorities cannot tolerate: the same meme being relentlessly broadcast by the Western media – that an indigenous rebellion with substantial support is really a Russian plot to "subvert" Ukraine and reestablish the Warsaw Pact – now has the force of law in Ukraine. Anyone who contradicts it is subject to arrest.

The latest conscription round is meeting with serious resistance, especially in the ethnic-Hungarian areas of Carpathian Ruthenia.

The Kiev regime has declared that even saying the words "Civil War" is now a crime punishable by decades in prison.

Its a step up from the treatment of “thought crimes” in Western European countries like Germany. Its almost like you are living in the USSR...

These are the Western parts of Ukraine sympathetic to the Maidan regime.

But they don’t want its war.

She’s an ethnic Russian serving as a Russian disinformation agent and propagandist. She talks about lies, but she is the one who is speaking the lies and saying what some of the ethnic Russians want to hear. This is the consequence of the Russians who deliberately starved millions of Ukrainians to death, took over their Ukrainian lands, and now protest because the Ukrainians want to keep there independence from the Russia these Russians want to force upon the Ukrainians.

Why would the Hungarians there want to fight this war? They could not care less about those involved.

Any stories about Russian soldiers resigning because they dont want to go Rostov for a military excercise, then wind up “lost” in Ukraine? That’s too bad

Excellent post, and spot on.

There’s a lot of Russian sympathizers in Ukraine (and even here on FR), all trying to undermine Ukraine’s right to defend itself against an illegal Russian invasion.

Patton on the Russians:

“The difficulty in understanding the Russian is that we do not take cognizance of the fact that he is not a European, but an Asiatic, and therefore thinks deviously. We can no more understand a Russian than a Chinese or a Japanese, and from what I have seen of them, I have no particular desire to understand them except to ascertain how much lead or iron it takes to kill them. In addition to his other amiable characteristics, the Russian has no regard for human life and they are all out sons-of-bitches, barbarians, and chronic drunks.”

ROFL. If Russia really invades it will be over in about 5 mins. The whole Ukrainian military can't defeat these separatist.

And you want to talk about illegal. Just look how this Ukrainian junta came to power.

Russia is a draftee military.

While Russia depends mostly on 1 year draftees, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to Ukraine now having to implement a draft to fight them.

Let’s hope that Ukraine survives this invasion and can keep the Russian Army from reaching our NATO borders.

We already know how this democratic government came to power. The old puppet government was thrown out when they started shooting innocent and peaceful protesters.

The Ukie trolls try SO very hard to control the Orwellian language of this, just as the article points out.

And anybody that refuses to play along is a “Moskal”, or a Putinista, yada, yada.

Just replace “Putinista” with “racist”, and you will see EXACTLY where it comes from.

What’ next?
“Pro-U.S. Forces”?

“LOL...

It’s no laughing matter. It is just these sorts of disingenuous Soviet era bitches which denounced their Ukrainian neighbors in Luhansk and Donetsk and cheerfully led the cheerleading to have them horribly tortured and murdered by the Russian separatist leaders. Can it be any wonder the Ukrainians want these deceitful and murderous Russians off of their backs.
