BAC 0.08 isn’t necessarily tied to driving performance either but the law is the law. CDC is pushing for it to be lowered to 0.05.
Why should dopers think they are any different in the eyes of the law?

It would be more helpful to have these numbers broken down by region.
We average one fatal or SBI hit and run in Denver a day, and nearly daily I see someone driving while smoking pot. Personally I’d rather not get hit by any of them, fatal or not.

LoL.
Try going to a 24hr Wal-mart at 3am and only buying.
1. Heavy duty trash bags
2. Bleach, lots of bleach
3. Rubber gloves
4. Duct Tape
5. Lighter fluid
6. A large butchers knife
7. Lots of sponges
Now, do this when there is a missing person report in your area and pay with a credit card.

“When researchers controlled for factors such as age and gender, they found no evidence marijuana use increases accident risks. This was despite the fact that, in the study, drivers who tested positive for marijuana use happened to be involved in more accidents.”
Did Slow Joe or Kerry-Heinz give the researchers a hand with these sentences .... DUH?

Well, a scene from Cheech and Chong's movie explains it:
Cheech: "Hey man, am I driving too fast?"
Chong: "I think we're parked, man."
