Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of defense.
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak during a meeting with bratynskym ambassador to Ukraine Simon Smith, director of the international security policy MoD UK Nick Guerra, the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry.
"We are working hard on the preparation of this document, which is a logical continuation of cooperation between our countries," - said Poltorak.
ARTICLE CONTINUES:
The parties discussed the civil-military cooperation, training in military and military-technical spheres and subsequent reception humanitarian and logistical assistance to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, performing tasks in the area of TU.
The meeting also discussed the situation in the Donbass.
Nick Herr said that Ukraine can count on every possible assistance in the pursuit of Ukrainian independence.
“I am deeply respect the fighters defending their homeland. I love their courage and heroism,” - he said.
Somehow..., very reminiscent of the early 1930's???
Not enough.
NATO needs to launch airstrikes on rebel held territories in Eastern Ukraine.
Or at the very least, lend-lease some cheap anti-armor weapons, counter-battery radar systems and artillery.
That would result in Russian Tanks and Aircraft covering the entire map of Ukraine.
Kiev would be reduced to rubble in 72hrs.
How about we just give them $10bil to spend as they see fit?
Do you also propose that the rebels launch airstrikes on Kiev?
East Ukraine is not Serbia, who didn't have air defense's, which now, thanks to Russia, the freedom fighters in the east do.
Also reminiscent of pre WW I.
Advice of the Founders: “Avoid entangling alliances.”
memorandums mean nothing without some action
About as much use as Chamberlain’s “bit of paper” he brought back from Munich.
It’s not very smart to give $10 billion in cash or credit to a desperate army... They might decide their only chance is to swing for the fences.
Why does Ukraine believe this Memorandum means anything more than the Budapest and other agreements?
Now, the fact is that the West is not living up to those agreements, and that fact is likely going to get many millions killed in coming decades. But that likelihood seems to not matter to those in power in the West, perhaps because few of them will be around to see the evil whose groundwork they are laying, or perhaps because their corrupt morals make it “inconvenient” for them to see.
I wish it was not so, but without a powerful and honorable US leading the West, what other conclusion can be drawn?
BTW, very interesting article here:
I do see multiple problems with the analysis:
For one thing, how much of those defense industries that made up “70% of Ukraine’s industrial base” is likely to end up in Putin’s hands? (I really think that grabbing as much of it as he could has been Putin’s plan all along.)
But then again, how much of that industry, which I believe is mainly in the East part of Ukraine, is even going to exist whenever hostilities cease?
Does the West’s plan assume that Putin will eventually control part of Eastern Ukraine, and therefor the plan partially consists of drawing out the war to assure the destruction of as much of those former Ukrainian defense industries as possible?
The response to such a strike by NATO wouldn't necessarily be limited to Ukraine either.
NATO needs to control the airspace of Ukraine and take out every Russkie armament they can find. Send Russkie home in body bags en masse.
I think it would be limited to Ukraine, until after the NATO counter-strike....if there is one.
That's the danger.
Once things go past Ukraine, all bets are off and the entire world risks hellfire.
Do NOT think Russia could not and would not incinerate 1000 cities.
In a short 3 hours span.
Its astounding how people are thinking its no big deal, for us to bomb Russians, on the very same battlefields of the eastern front. And their fantasy is that they’ll just back down and obey us. All these little brushfire wars have taught us the wrong lessons.
I don't see how the NATO air presence in the Baltic states and Romania aren't also attacked immediately, in part to preempt such a counterstrike.
That said, I doubt the homo-fascists in Brussels have the stones to take such an action in the first place.
You got it backwards we think it is a big deal Russians are bombing Ukraine and killing Ukrainians. How are you any different than the Chamberlain crowd before WW I ?
