Sen. Rand Paul and House Republicans have introduced legislation to strictly limit the ability of unions to force workers to have to pay them dues.
Both right-to-work bills would amend the National Labor Relations Act to prohibit contracts between labor unions and businesses that force all of a company's workers to join a union or at least pay it a fee as a condition of employment.
(SNIP)
"Every American and their employer should have the power to negotiate the terms of their employment, and no American should be forced to pay union dues just to get or keep a job. However, when Congress enacted the National Labor Relations Act in 1935, it established the concept of 'monopoly bargaining,' which forces workers who want nothing to do with a union into paying union dues and abiding by the union's rules and contracts," King said.

They need to de-unionize the federal workforce and let the states worry about themselves.
Thank you.
I’m as much a fan of RTW of anyone but the states are supposed to be individual laboratories.
Two new Federal laws in the labor field that would do more good than any other would be repeal of civil service and once again outlawing public sector unions.
Vetoed.
This is great news. You will have the right to work, as long as you are willing to do it at illegal alien wages.
I’d be tickled if the feds would end Davis-Bacon.
People can still negotiate with a company for the best deal
I would imagine a nightmare of conflicting lawsuits, however ... 1/2 a shop getting scale and the other getting less ... ERA and all that
Personally, I would like to see the NEA (education) neutered.
Most states money problems evolve around teachers' pay and especially pensions ... can anyone say .. GM ?
Yup. The UAW and others still exist here in Michigan. Many unions are collapsing under the weight of formerly forced members wanting out but no one’s wages are falling and jobs are actually being created.
My sister-in-law is not in the union and doesn’t want to be in the union, yet they take money from her anyway. It’s called “fair share”. Fair for whom? Certainly not for her.
There aren't that many dirty handed people anymore ... they're all at keyboards, so there's no workplace "dangerous condition" to fight against and "save the worker from"
Unionas today will be utilized in the legalization of an illegal workforce .... they just want to work hard and feed their families ... and we're THERE for ya, brother !!
No, filibustered.
{RINO] Sen. Rand Paul and House Republicans RINOs have introduced legislation to strictly limit the ability of unions to force workers to have to pay them dues."
There! I fixed it.
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
Not only have the states never amended the Constitution to grant the feds the specific power to regulate intrastate labor, but the Supreme Court has historically clarified that the states have never delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate intrastate commerce, intrastate labor reasonably an aspect of intrastate commerce.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
So my question is this. Is Sen. Paul and his fellow RINOs in the House introducing such legislation at this time to hopefully make an impression on low-information conservative voters for 16 elections, hoping that such voters will just remember that Paul and RINOs wrote some kind of patriotic labor / union legislation awhile back by the time of 16 elections?
Actually, what I meant, is after they pass amnesty, the illegals will be the only ones getting jobs. I have always chided my union friends that they are getting paid what the least of them is worth.
The only reason you can be forced to recognize or be forced to be a part of a union anywhere, is because of the nlra, which this is amending.
They should repeal the entirety of the nlra and let the states be individual laboratories. This is at best a half measure towards that.
Happened to me many years ago when I joined a firm and it was controlled by the Teamsters. Teamsters sent me a card and said WTF?!I told the company I didn;t want to be part of this nonsense where they money from me so they fired me. Back then I was pissed but i still got a check from the company.
This will roll out the ability to Hire Illegal aliens over Americans! YOU HEARD IT HERE!!
BINGO!! EXACTLY!!
This is ushering in Illegal alien workers!
