Jewish community leader trapped inside Auschwitz concentration camp after getting locked in while filming a television show on the 70th anniversary of its liberation.
The head of Rome’s Jewish community found himself locked into Auschwitz on Tuesday night and then arrested when he tried to escape.
Riccardo Pacifici was doing a television interview after the ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the camp’s liberation, when he realised the camp’s gates had been closed.
Mr Pacifici was locked in with Jewish community spokesman Fabio Perugia, the television host and two technicians.
Mr Pacifici, whose grandparents died in the camp, spent an hour outside in freezing conditions trying to alert someone to their predicament. The group then set off an alarm when they tried to escape through an open window, alerting the museum guard and several Polish police officers.
Mr Pacifici and the other members of the group were arrested and interrogated at Auschwitz until 2.30am.

I was once locked in the Coliseum in Rome when the workers decided to go on lunch break. This was in April and I was the only tourist and I was feeding the cats! Two hours locked in the Coliseum was creepy. I really thought they wouldn’t come back until the next day.

I doubt it. It sounds like they got locked in when it closed. If the staff did not check everywhere it would be an easy mistake to make.
“Pacifici” means “pacifists.” Possibly a name adopted symbolically when his family found refuge in Italy.
A friend of mine accidentally got locked in there for about 45 minutes.She said she felt overwhelmed by an almost physical evil, and spiritual pain... She said the victim's still cry out.
I remember seeing a photograph of the railroad siding where it breaks off from the main line and goes into the woods -- a vicious corridor slashed out of the wilderness. I just knew that nothing good lay at the other end of that spur. I still get chills when I think of it.
The Nazis were REALLY into the occult and it would not surprise me if it turned out that the Nazis did some research and decided that these areas would be the best place to construct the camps based on the negative energy in the area.

They could have summoned several demons and asked for the best land to carry out their extermination of innocents. I’m totally serious. Hitler likely struck a deal with the Devil and in exchange for his soul, power, but the thing when you traffic with evil is that you only are able to do evil. So Hitler killed as many Jews as he could and threw in others as a bonus. There’s no other reason that he was so able to find just the right evil people to do those horrific crimes. No way is there any natural explanation for how he managed to find Heydrich, Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, Mengele, Hess, Rohm, all the other monsters who oiled his rise to power and helped him unleash such a bloodbath. I sincerely think that Lucifer brought them up straight from Hell and gave the monsters I just listed human bodies and ordered them to help Hitler as much as possible.
How do you get locked in a ruin?
Ruins have gates built around them. They locked the gate on me.
I wouldn’t care for that, either.
