In May 1881 US explorers approached Jeannette Island, Wrangell Island and Henrietta Island in the Arctic Ocean and claimed them for the United States.
But according to the Obama Department of State no claim exists today over these US islands. In fact the State Department is conspiring with Russian President Putin to give away Wrangell Island to Russians. Wrangell and its 200 mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ) has billions of barrels of oil/gas reserves and hundreds of millions of pounds of fisheries. It also has a strategic military location for tracking Russian moves in Arctic.
The Coast Guard is a component of the Department of Homeland Security. It unequivocally states:
On 12 August 1881, he [William Reynolds] was at the head of the party that landed on what would be later named Wrangell Island and took possession of the island in the name of the United States.

Too late. They've already been activated.
is the author confusing the Russian Wrangel island with the Alaskan Wrangell island?
They are Russian real estate now!
And Canada has a lot more coming from Russia. COUNT ON IT.
You'd be surprised, to find that gays are a minority in San Francisco and declining in numbers. They have been leaving over the last decade or two, replaced by straights. Their political influence is waning as well. They were largely confined to the Castro district at Castro and Market, extending into Noe Valley and parts of the Mission district. Most of the city are regular families with children. There's been a resurgence of straight tech workers moving into the city, displacing others. Baby strollers and children playing are commonplace sights everywhere. As I said, be careful about painting with too broad a brush. I've seen far crazier batshit stuff in other cities (like Austin, Seattle, Washington, New York, etc.) than in SF.
One more time — Wrangell Island has been Russian territory since before WWI, and was named after a German-Russian noble born in the late 18th century. The Russian claim has never been seriously disputed.
Ping to all lists.
This bogus story about the turning over of Wrangel island was posted on FR back in 2000 — seriously, before Obama was done with his last line of coke or his last homosexual affair, and before he stopped claiming to have been born in Kenya.
Quietly, State Dept. Turns Over American Islands to Russia, Others

To add to the confusion, there actually IS an island in Alaska called Wrangel Island:

You mean this story is factually in error?!?
But ... but ... blogs. New Media. Gateway Pundit!
(I’ll be over in the corner quietly trembling while my world view collapses.)
;’)
State Captals? Don't ask. Don't Tell.
Sarah Palin’s pal Joe Miller has been the only notable is recent years with this drivel.

Back when a border treaty with Russia was approved by the Senate in ‘90 or ‘91 (which would have settled it if there actually was a question), a couple of senators mentioned American claims on Wrangel Island. I think they were just confused.
Gateway Pundit is just being fraudulent. Stuff like this gives the TEA Party a bad name.
You are correct about SF. Its a city of extremes. One of the most conservative people i know lives there.
I lived there a few years in the late 80’s.
Wacko city government for sure; but there are wackos everywhere now.
No Congress. That’s for sure.
I went to the article at Gateway Pundit. The photo they have for this article shows a Sikorsky H-60 Sea Hawk. I know, I worked on them for years. The text beneath the photo says that Russians are unloading gear. But that’s not possible with the equipment in that photo. They don’t use the H-60.
I am suspicious of this story.
Now, I am too.
” it has the Rocketdyne division of United Technologies.”
I think Yoyodyne is there too.
Yes, that was my point in an indirect way. People say the most awful things about anyone living in the SF Bay Area. However, if you were to live here you would see that for the most part families live their lives like they do in most parts of the country. And the wackos are everywhere. Many of the gays have left over the last twenty years, and family types are everywhere now. There have been beatdowns of gays in the Mission and SOMA (South of Market area), even killings, because of the strong religious family traditions there; not that I condone that but it is a reality. But SF is far safer than many cities I have visited. You can walk the streets at night without fearing for your life, unlike Washington DC, Seattle, Atlantic City and so many other cities around the country.
Aside from the City Hall politics, it looks like a normal city (without the ghettos because there really aren't any).
When I go; I stay in the Marina district close to Union St. As you said; there are families on the sidewalks with strollers.
But also wackos are there. And way too many homeless; and they are aggressive panhandling downtown especially.
