In comments at his Monday in-air interview that were totally ignored by the mainstream media, Pope Francis lamented the Western practice of imposing a homosexual agenda on other nations through foreign aid, which he called a form of ideological colonization and compared to the Nazi propaganda machine.
Asked by a reporter to explain the phrase ideological colonization, the pope gave an example from 1995 when, he says, a minister of education in a poor area was told she could have a loan for building schools so long as the schools used a book that taught gender theory.
Frank still doesn’t get it.
The left isn’t going after Christians because the left is pro-gay.
The left is promoting homosexuality as a weapon to criminalize Christianity.
Quite a swipe at his (still living) predecessor, isn’t it?
Awkward turn of phrase...
This is a pope, not the president of the US.
This is not a purely home grown evil. It has been wished upon the US from many sources.
People like to joke about Godwin’s law, but there really are movements that get mean and totalitarian, and Hitler (whatever) is a good metaphor for them.
As for the German Benedict... he was never guilty of any such thing, so why would this be a swipe at him. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Following his 14th birthday in 1941, Ratzinger was conscripted into the Hitler Youthas membership was required by law for all 14-year-old German boys after March 1939but was an unenthusiastic member who refused to attend meetings, according to his brother.

OK, so why assume this was a purposeful smear. They were wicked. The Christian message is that wickedness does not need to cling to anyone forever.
With all the hub-bub about Pope Benedict’s membership in the Hitler Youth (even though you didn’t hear about it somehow) do you think that a Catholic Cardinal missed it?
But your holiness, if they somehow linked that agenda with the global warming agenda, you would be just fine with it, right? You see, when you support one side of the liberal agenda, you support it all because it is ONE BIG package. In time, I think his Holiness will get that one.
I’m pretty sure the Pope’s comments opposing gay indoctrination were mistranslated/misunderstood.
Wailing among the 5 embittered freeper evangelicals who post here every day.
I am starting to find this Pope to be extremely confusing.
Indoctrination is indoctrination and that is what the public schools have been doing for the last 40 years at least. Read some history of the world. When you take the most innocent and indoctrinate them, bad things follow. They don't have to be white or Christian either or American. It's happening all over the world with all kinds of bad things. Homosexuality just happens to be the perversion du Jour.
I don’t see it as a “swipe” at BXVI at all.
Young Joseph Ratzinger was, at the time, an unwilling participant in the Hitler Youth movment (as even the Wiki entry shows downthread). If someone is an “unenthusiastic” member of a group, that means they don’t really want to be in that group to begin with and are probably coerced in some way to remain.
So it’s hardly a “swipe” at Benedict at all, since he never supported the movement in the first place. How can it be a swipe if Benedict was an unwilling participant?
Good post I hope he gets it in time too.
We will see. There is much brouhaha about his upcoming encyclical. I have decided to wait until it actually comes out before castigating him on that.
Granted though it doesn’t look good for him in that regard given some of his most recent statements on the subject. But again, we will see.
Well now... all those proggies who think the Pope is “on their side” will be clawing their eyes out on this one (not that that’s a bad thing).
You know, as a Christian (although non Catholic) I forgave... it is quite clear Benedict had turned his back on that wicked organization...
That really shortens the list of things to watch even at the risk of being called ignorant
Why should I wail, he said the right thing.
