The move is part of an effort to slow the measles outbreak that began at Disneyland in December.

Orange County has 16 confirmed cases of the viral infection, six of which are not connected to the Disneyland outbreak.

Measles is highly contagious and can spread easily through the air.

California state laws require children to be vaccinated with the MMR vaccine prior to enrolling in school. Some parents believe the shots are linked to Autism and other medical conditions and have signed medical exemption forms.

I suspect the number of American kids who haven’t gotten the MMR vaccine is less than 1%.

And the elephant in the room is...?

Why isn’t anyone asking the primary question that should be asked in a situation like this? /[rhetorical/sarcasm]

Measles outbreaks are blamed on hippies and others who don’t believe in vaccination NOT on invaders from other countries. The propaganda has worked. I have one question, are vaccinated children coming down with measles? If they are not, why worry about the ones that do? Since vaccination protects those who have it, there is no threat to them.

Yup, there have been whooping cough outbreaks too...

All from south of the borders..

Heck, I'm "middle-aged", and recently received boosters to this and to my DPT, given all that is being allowed to come across our borders unchecked, and that I have a new infant granddaughter that I do not want exposed.

I have not, however, has a flu shot, nor do I intend to do so.

I don’t trust the other crap they put in the MMR vaccine, the dead or weakened viruses are okay, it is the other stuff that stimulates the immune system that causes the issues.

I had a tetanus booster shot and i got sicker than a dog, I went into the doctor and they didn’t believe me until they ran me through a myriad of tests, then they realized that it was indeed the damn vaccine that made me sick, I was sick for a good month and a half...

Yes, they are, but most of those infected are not vaccinated.

The biggest problem is that some people/children cannot be vaccinated, either because they are too young or because of some other health condition.

I suspect the “antivaxxer” BS is nothing but an excuse or distraction. The pressure to have kids get the basic vaccinations is just too great for most American parents to withstand.

Illegals on the other hand...

“... If they are not, why worry about the ones that do?”

I believe the true worry is for any adult who hasn’t either had measles/mumps/chicken pox OR had the vaccine (and has not stayed current with boosters). Back in my college days, I worked at a hospital. I recall a young man (mid 20’s) who died from Chicken Pox. If I recall correctly, children fare far better with the illness than adults. (By “adult”, I mean any one older and the older you are... the worse it is for you).

Why would any parents want to “withstand” vaccinating their children against measles?

I finally gave in and got a flu shot this year. So far so good. Up until this year I had resisted getting one despite the urgings of my wife.

It seems that for the last five years a number of times after visiting the grandkids I'd come down with a cold or something worse. Last year after visiting the grandkids, I came down with flu symptoms that had me down, sick and coughing every day for almost two months.

Now this year after visiting the kids over Christmas I've not contracted anything.

Then shouldn’t people be up in arms literally, that UI’s(undocumented Immigrants) should be kept out no matter the age? Why pick on non-vaccinated citizens? In local school districts children must have vaccines up to date before starting school, with documentation.

Almost enough for them to claim a class action saying their rights are being violated by banning them from school attendance due to lack of vaccination. I foresee this turning into a lawsuit against the state and/or schools by some liberal group that thinks the illegals are being pushed around on this deal.

I suspect that a large part of it stems from a basic and growing distrust of our government that has grown on both sides (for demonstrably good reasons) for many years. Our "leadership" has been caught in so many lies and in so much self-serving manipulation that many folks now just don't know who or what to believe. Can't say that I much blame them.

I've always seemed to become ill after a (government-mandated) flu shot, and not so much if I did not have one.

I also developed a strange rash (the "Katrina Pox") after receiving numerous vaccinations prior to spending a month in New Orleans patrolling after Hurricane Katrina. Interestingly, the CDC was on hand to evaluate / sign of on us after the deployment prior to us being allowed to go home. While several docs evaluated my case (and others who had similar conditions), no explanation was ever offered. To this day I wonder if I was the unwitting volunteer for some experimental drug...

I was in the Reserves during the Swine Flu scare in the ‘70s and got sick for 3 weeks from the mandatory vaccine, even though the pandemic never happened.
