PARA USA regrets its decision to provide firearms for use in the film "Taken 3". While the film itself is entertaining, comments made by its Irish-born star during press junkets reflect a cultural and factual ignorance that undermines support of the Second Amendment and American liberties, the company posted on its Facebook page. We will no longer provide firearms for use in films starring Liam Neeson

“Must action stars oppose gun control?”
No, hollyweird ac-tors must remain hypocrites at all times (I expect no less than that).
If Mr. Neeson was an articulate man and a capable actor he might have a point. Since he is neither he doesn’t. Besides, he not an American.
Too late for Hollyweird to try to convince the public that you don’t need firearms to stop people with guns, like the rebels in the early part of the Boxer Rebellion thought.
Must action stars oppose gun control?
Yes, if they value freedom and constitutional rights. Exceptions can be made if one is a hypocritical, shameless, socialist arse.. like Liam Neeson.
How about ALL gun makers refuse to supply weapons to hollyweird. Works for me. Besides, they can get all the fully auto weapons, rocket launchers, grenades and ammo at gun shows with no background checks anyway.
GUN CONTROL is such a mindless, open-ended phrase.
I control my guns, but inasmuch as they are not registered with an agency of government, and local police do not have a record of their existence, anti-Article Two activists would deem my guns uncontrolled.
Excellent! It takes guts to run a company with conscientiousness and moral conviction.
Hats off to PARA USA.
Oh...this is so sweet!
How I wish that EVERYONE that could support/contribute to these films that find this objectionable would do the same.
Although H’wood isn’t going to change their politics and inane, ignorant comments and positions...maybe they’ll at least have a harder time putting their products together and recognize that their customers don’t appreciate being spat upon.
Loons. Ignoramuses. Maroons.
Bad guys shooting at him and he runs into the hail of bullets with his hand making the sign of a gun (thumb up, index finger pointing) and begins make-believe firing at the bad guys. They kill him and his no gun nonsense goes to the grave!
Oh yes.
After the massacre in Paris that resulted as a result of the gun control policies they favor here, film actors have no business telling us to disarm.
The only way we’ll be free - and safe - is through our RKBA. An Islamic bloodbath hasn’t happened here yet because its not easy to mow down Americans.
People in this country will make damned sure it stays that way and if Hollywood doesn’t like it, it can stuff it.
He snapped when his wife died. C’est la vie.
Neeson didn’t start making these stupid remarks until after his wife was killed in a skiing accident - maybe he cracked up a little. He’s not a bad actor in roles that can use his limited range as the angry revengeful underdog. I don’t see him doing show tunes.
In the past there were lots of action movies involving average people who were put in dangerous situations that could realistically be managed through courage and skill, e.g. kidnap victims who manage to escape, gang of hoods terrorizing a small town, etc.
Now what we see in action movies are rare people like ex-CIA agents or retired Navy Seals that have to overcome impossible odds just to survive the movie. The movies even end with cliffhangers suggesting that even though the hero survived impossible odds, he will have to look forward to more danger in the sequel.
The message of actions films of the past seems to have been "With courage and a little luck the average guy can hope to stand up to his foes and win the good fight."
The message now seems to be "There is no chance in hell that you will be able to fight the massive, well-organized forces that are keeping you in your place. So just sit back and wait for an impossibly brave, skilled, and lucky savior to come save you."
So it makes perfect sense to me that action movie heroes in real life support gun control. After all, mere mortals like us can't expect to fight global drug cartels, rogue governments, Illuminati-like organizations, etc. It's best if we just hand over our gun, and if we don't like the way things are going then hopefully someone like Liam Neeson will come to save the day.
Really?
Unarmed French cops ran away from engaging Islamic terrorists.
If the police can’t protect you thanks to those same gun control policies, its open season for the bad guys.
And if you’re dead, whatever the government does afterwards is water under the bridge.
I don’t want stupid people like Liam Neeson and Eugene Robinson to put my life in the hands of cops who may not be able to put down a life-threatening situation.
Protecting my life and the lives of others if necessary - is first and foremost my responsibility. There is no other way around it.
FYI, that hypocrite POS Liam did become an American Citizen.
I wish these idiot stars would shut their mouths and avoid making comments in the presence of adults.
“I make MILLIONS of bucks every year off you yokels by blasting bad guys with GUNS,... HOWEVER, you yokels should NOT be allowed to own guns!”
And they wonder why we don’t give them credibility as the ‘geniuses’ they think they are...
Yes — this is the the message that is being pushed… for one simple reason: you cannot be allowed to think that you have your own destiny in your hands.
It's the same reason why the militia is painted in colors more derisive and despicable than terrorists are: because the armed people acting together are a danger to the elite.
Of course not.
What I'm saying is that action movies are not about encouraging us to be courageous and self-sufficient, they are about sending a message that resistance is futile.
Conservatives are being suckered if they think that action movies are the lone safe haven for viewing pleasure. They may be entertaining for two hours, and they may be free of overtly liberal preaching, but in most cases they are sending a subliminal message that is anti-freedom and anti-second-amendment.
Yes I know that the police won't help us, the FBI won't help us, the Navy Seals won't even help us. But the government and Hollywood don't even want us to help us.
So break out the popcorn and 32-oz drink and enjoy two hours of an aging Chuck Norris killing legions of baddies, evading death via impossible car chases, saving the twenty-something hottie and her young son who somehow knows how to hack into the NSA to find out who's really behind all this.
