Agreed. I have no idea why this guy was elected pope, but it definitely doesn’t seem like there was any divine guidance involved.

Agree with first part. However God - for whatever reason - allowed this Pope to be elected. That is what scares me

I’ll give you a very good - and Biblical - reason ... Bad leaders, bad Popes, bad priests ... are God’s wrath when His Divine Justice is exceedingly offended ... In other words, when our Heavenly Father is pissed off to the max at the stupidity and sinfulness of His willful children, He then removes His grace and protection, and gives them exactly what they deserve - evil leaders, both in the secular political and ecclesiastical realms.
