BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A federal judge in South Texas on Thursday pushed an attorney representing the federal government to explain the legal authority behind President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration, which a coalition of 25 states has sued to try to stop.
U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen heard arguments during a hearing on a request by the coalition for a preliminary injunction, which would put Obama's action on hold until the lawsuit makes its way through the courts. The first of Obama's orders is set to start accepting applications Feb. 18.
While Hanen at times grilled U.S. Department of Justice attorney Kathleen Hartnett to detail how the federal government can justify legal action which could spare from deportation as many as 5 million people who are in the U.S. illegally, the judge was measured and cordial throughout the more than three-hour hearing as he questioned lawyers from both sides.
Hanen said he would not issue a ruling on the injunction request before Jan. 30.

Although Judge Hanen can be viewed as sympathetic, his ruling for the States should not be considered a given. He must be careful in his ruling and he must be wise.
Pray for Judge Hanen to be careful and wise in his ruling.
Pray for America that its borders and its sovereignty be protected from lawlessness.
If I was to predict his ruling by the signals he’s giving out, Obama wins.
What signals are those?
They’ll get to him.
Smoke (and mirror) signals.
The fact is, no matter WHAT the judge rules, Obama will move on to do his own desires.
A lawless person does that—he uses the law when convenient, and ignores the law otherwise.
No Congress has passed a law lifting the Cuban embargo.
Obama ignores.
No Congress passed a law repealing DOMA.
Obama ignored it.
No Congress has passed a law permitting unfettered regulation of the internet by the feds.
Obama is going to ignore it.
SCOTUS ruled against Eric Holder & his little tin god regarding student quotas in Michigan and federal regulation of how southern states conduct elections.
Obama is ignoring it.
Lawless men ignore the law.

Obama should be impeached...for the sake of the country. Tear down the entire Leftist imposed façade of government, and reveal the founders government that is the true America.
He had to delay the ruling as he had a pre-scheudled tax paid vacation in Mehico.
