Romney's sudden move into 2016 talks a "conundrum" for some former aides

Mitt Romney has stopped Jeb Bush from locking down a significant faction of deep-pocketed Republican donors and top presidential campaign staffers, for the moment.

But money and talent won’t stay frozen for long. And multiple Republican insiders said Monday that Romney has a short window of time in which he has to make a decision about whether to mount a third run for the White House — or let the dream of the presidency go forever.

One 2012 Romney aide said the former Massachusetts governor might need to make up his mind in the next week. Most people who spoke with Yahoo News said Romney probably can wait a few weeks before the 2012 Republican presidential nominee starts losing support he’d need to mount a credible campaign. One GOP operative pegged Romney’s speech at Mississippi State University on Jan. 28 as a deadline of sorts.

Operatives who are being courted by both Romney and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have told Romney that the clock is ticking.

I've been convinced all along that he'd run again. While it's not definite, this sure seems to indicate that I was right.

I think Romney is an excellent executive and could be a good leader. He identifies issues and gets things accomplished. He's a businessman. But he's also an awful politician. And if he intends to make another run, he'd better come out with a real conservative platform and be able to articulate it.

I don't think he has it in him.

He’s also a big-government oligarch.

Spoiler.

He had his opportunity and fumbled at the one yard line.

He didn’t just ‘fumble’ that ball. He never picked it up.

Let us examine how mushy Janus RomneyCARE actually performed in Massachusetts:

RAT Romney RAN Mass into the ground."

MITT ROMNEY - THE PROVEN BAD GOVERNOR

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

We need someone who’s able to mobilize conservatives and help on the map. Romney barely cracked 200 electoral votes last time against an incredibly weak incumbent with a cruddy economy.

“I think Romney is an excellent executive and could be a good leader. He identifies issues and gets things accomplished. He’s a businessman.”

Yes, because gun bans, pro-abortion, homosexual marriage, illegal immigration, and higher taxes are SO much better coming from a Republican.
All of which points to him being a scumbag -even as a businessman.

” And if he intends to make another run, he’d better come out with a real conservative platform and be able to articulate it. “

You realize that is akin to asking Obama to articulate a conservative platform?
Neither would be able to as neither hold any conservative values in any way of any kind at all.
Romney articulated his positions just fine.

He and Jeb can square off and weaken each other, leaving the field open for a strong conservative.

I think Romney’s entry is the best news us conservatives could hope for!

With both Romney and Bush running... that will split up the GOPe/moderate vote :) leaving the way clear for Cruz to take the nomination easy.

If he is going to run, he should run as a democrat.

In the first debate he made obama look like the inexperienced (I vote present) looser that he is, I was really excited by that. Next two debates, Romney looked like he had his foot on the brake the whole time...................... I have no further use for Romney.

Any of these RINOs could win the Democrat primary.

Romney was in it to lose.
He was never meant to win.
So when he inadvertently made Obadork look like a moron, he had to throw the next two debates.
Considering how hard he fought against other Republicans, it was obvious that his silk glove treatment of Obama was purposeful.

Actually, not a bad idea for him. The far left is hoping for someone to challenge Hilliary from the left. Romney would be their man.

Romney was tougher on republicans in the primaries than he was on Obama in the last two debates.

It was like a bad second half in football.

Almost as if he was blackmailed into blowing the last two debates.

Yes, it would be best if the MittWit ran as a democrat.
Would be funny to watch certain people who think he's "all that" stumble over it.
