Secondly, USCIS is funded almost entirely by user fees, not by Congress.

Why are you repeating debunked progressive GOP talking points here? USCIS fees go to the TREASURY. Boehner can/could change the disbursement of them. He did not. Guess why? He and a large majority of the beltway GOP want amnesty also. Don’t fall for the GOPe traps, FRiend.

"But a lot of Freepers here will “feel better”.

Sure. Because we're "doing something".

IMO, whatever Amnesty candidate the GOPe wants to get the 2016 nomination, HAS to get that issue off the table for the election. They Will give up the whole ball of wax and they lie, obfuscate and minimize the effects of what they are doing. Obama will sign it because he will get everything he wants. Of course, there will be BS about fences and security, but none of that will even start to happen.

I’ve seen enough these last two months to know what Boehner, McConnell and the rest of the GOPe is all about. And it isn’t about sovereignty, my welfare, my children’s welfare or any of that. It is for their own transient power right now.

Such a move would be direct, unambiguous, and would focus specifically on Obama's action, which is what the controversy is about in the first place.

I believe the controversy is millions of illegal aliens in our country.

That is the real problem. How to solve it is the real issue. There will be no easy solution.

The politicians as usual are playing politics with this issue rather than fixing it.

“Doing something” would have been defunding amnesty and Obamacare
in the Cromibus bill that Bonehead, with the help of Pelosi, Reid and McConnell and Obama rammed through.

“Doing something” would have been to elect a different Speaker of the house.

If you enjoy Political Theatre, you are going to love the next two years.

As I said in my post, how do you defund not enforcing the law? Plus, any funding cuts will result in fewer agents on the border with Obama blaming the Republicans for that.

The cost of Obamacare is spread across multiple federal agencies. Congress can reduce overall federal spending and say the cuts apply to Obamacare, but Obama will simply apply the cuts elsewhere ... and blame the Republicans. Remember ...?

"It’s the eighth day that the U.S. government has been shut down because of Tea Party Republicans’ insistence on defunding Obamacare at any cost. This is having enormous economic impacts on small businesses across the country, including those located near the 401 national parks and 561 national wildlife refuge that are currently closed to campers, hikers, hunters, and anglers."

Once again.

“Doing Something” does not equal Kubuki dances, show votes and
grandstanding”
Unless you enjoy political theatre.

You should be joyful.
A lot and I mean a lot of Theatre is coming your way in the next 2 years.
I hope you enjoy every minute of it!vand then some.

"Boehner can/could change the disbursement of them."

Not through an appropriations bill. Appropriations bills are, by definition, funding bills and are not meant to change current law. In order to change how those fees are used, Congress would need to change current law.

Which would be vetoed by Obama.

"A lot and I mean a lot of Theatre is coming your way in the next 2 years."

We're going to see a lot of Presidential vetoes. In order to get enough Democrat votes to override, compromises will be proposed. Conservatives will go crazy.

The question will become, "Do you want to compromise on legislation over the next two years, or would you prefer to wait for a Republican President so you don't have to compromise?"

Quoting Think Progress here? Are you a Democrat? You sure seem happy with the Obama-Boehner amnesty quid pro quo.

Like the time not that long ago when the GOP controlled all three branches
of Government and spent like drunken sailors too?

Think I’ll pass on that.

However, I do hope you enjoy your political theatre.

You want stupidity?

BLOCK OBAMA'S AMNESTY BY SIMPLY FUNDING DEPORTATIONS

That's how simple it is.
But it's never even mentioned- by anyone.

No, we are going to see the key bills die in the Senate because “Republicans” like Ayotte up for election won’t want to stick their necks out. The Dems will stick together. Reid still runs the Senate, don’t kid yourself.

MrsSmith, That is because it is a great idea and we know that the GOP
does not like great ideas. They like complicated ideas, confusion,
Kabuki dances and grandstanding.

It is much easier than work.

No it’s not a ‘great’ idea: it costs a lot of money and would anger Hispanic, big business and the media.

But it is what should be done, and should have been done all along.

"Quoting Think Progress here?"

Why not? They're symbolic of every left-wing organization, blog and news source which will be reporting the story exactly this way if the Republicans cut funding.

"Are you a Democrat?"

Because I cited an AP story? Oh wait, I get it. Because that AP story was carried by a left-wing web site. THAT makes me a Democrat.

Grow up. Can you address the point I was making, or are you limited to simply asking unfounded questions?

"when the GOP controlled all three branches of Government"

a) Two branches -- Congress and the Presidency
b) GOP, not conservatives.
c) During those four years, deficit spending was about $500 billion per year.
d) This was right after 9/11. Much of that money went to defense and Homeland Security.

Bush increased the debt more than any President in history at that point.
Bush held the record, until Obama.

The difficulty that the GOP faces is to appear to be an opposition party while not actually being one.

The façade is wearing very thin.
