The jihadist was heard claiming his attack - and the Charlie Hebdo massacre - were motivated by French military action in Mali and Syria
No one answered but the line remained open for several minutes, capturing the terrorist speaking to a hostage.
During a five-minute rant he says: "Every time, they try to make you think Muslims are terrorists. I was born in France. If they hadn't been attacked elsewhere I wouldn't be here."
He later adds: "'I'll tell them to stop attacking the Islamic State, stop unveiling our women, stop putting our brothers in prison for everything and anything."
When the hostage says that they are not responsible for the actions of their government, Coulibaly says they are, adding: "You're the ones who elected your governments, and the governments never hid their intentions to be at war in Mali or elsewhere."
It is understood Coulibaly claimed at one point he would kill his hostages if French police tried to move on the Charlie Hebdo massacre suspects.
The extent to which Coulibaly and the Kouachi brothers were known to each other is unclear, but both have been linked to a notorious al-Qaeda terror cell.
Chérif Kouachi also spoke to the French media before dying in a hail of bullets.
Journalist Igor Sahiri spoke to Kouachi at about 9:45am, while he held a man hostage in a printing press with his brother.
The terror suspect, who was killed when police raided the printing press this afternoon, said: "We are the defenders of the prophet" and that he was sent by "Al Qaida of Yemen".

The CNN crowd have to be careful with their correspondents. The Int’l guys know the proper terms that can be used. The US guys know their proper terms, and neither can be used in the wrong places.
Me? I’m a Norman-English-American....my folks came as part of the Norman invasion of England, stayed five hundred years and then left in 1666 for the US. Do I ever get recognition for “my people”? No.

1. We end up with a government that does something about deporting Muslims. Or...
2. They end up dominating and taking over and killing those of us who will not convert to Islam.
Don't see much of any other options with the type of mindset I'm seeing with present-day Islam.
