Source: Billionaire Environmentalist Tom Steyer considering run for Barbara Boxer’s seat

Billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer is mulling a run for Barbara Boxer’s Senate seat, according to a person close to the former hedge fund trader.

“My sense is that he will take a look at it and consider it over the next few days or so,” the person said.

The person added that Steyer has been approached by some in the liberal community to run for Boxer’s seat, while others have urged him to run for governor of California in 2018. Another option: running for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat if she retires in 2018.

Almost as soon as Boxer announced that she would not seek reelection in 2016, Steyer began reviewing polling data and making calls to California labor and political figures, associates said. And he is consulting with the contacts he made while running two multi-million-dollar advocacy campaigns focused on statewide ballot measures in 2010 and 2012.

Steyer has spent tens of millions of dollars on federal elections in recent years, shelling out more than $65 million in the recent midterm elections alone, in a bid to turn climate change into a top-tier political issue. If he runs, Steyer’s campaign would likely be one of the most environmentally focused in history, putting to the test the billionaire’s convictions that climate change is a winning issue.

Steyer has emerged as the darling of the environmental movement, but he has made enemies on the right. Throughout the 2014 midterm elections, Republicans used Steyer as a punching bag.

Steyer has been openly flirting with running for office for years. When asked, he never rules out the possibility, making the case that he’ll consider any option that offers him a platform to advocate for his top policy priorities, like tackling climate change and promoting childhood education.

This, my friends, is the number one enemy of Keystone XL and all conventional forms of energy sources.

However... Steyer owes his fortune in large part to the fact that he has been one of the world’s largest financers of coal projects. Tom Steyer was for coal before he was against it.

All smoke, no flame.

Extinguish the thought, Tom.

Spare us even more drivel.

Never get between a liberal and their money. Even if it’s someone else’s money that they think is theirs.

I love these billionaire, multi-dwelling, jet setting, enviro whack jobs. Everything they have, everything they do screams high impact.

We have a multi-millionaire neighbor who hates cattle, thinks they are destroying the world, kicked me off a parcel I was leasing from the previous owner only to bring a D8T out to rip and contour the hillside for a vineyard. He also tapped a spring that sucked all the water from a creek. Do as I say not as I do.

These guys are all hypocrites to the extreme.

We would be better off with Steyer in Congress rather than behind the scenes- easier to keep track of and his use of his billions becomes problematic. Replacing Boxer would be a null politically and ideologically.

Leftists are not hypocrites. They are principled liars. Their principle is power at any cost and by any means. They can’t really be hypocrites since they do not recognize the existence of Truth or even truth.

“Billionaire environmentalist”

Now THAT is an achievement. What a title. He must be really awesome to have made so much money hugging trees, saving the whales, personally making love to rare endangered animals to help them repopulate...etc. I didn’t know there was so much money in it

Who will monitor whether he actually pays his 13% California State Income Tax?

Ahhh I love the common refrain that progressive democrats are the party for the little guy. The party of the poor. The richest people in DC are democrats.

If Steyr wants into the Senate or Governorship it means he is aiming higher.

Imagine, someone even worse than Boxer!!!

A nutty billionaire environmentalist that either believes that man-made global-warming/Climate Change/Gamblepudding is true or pretends to out of longing for a brutal Socialist State prompted by a sense of guilt for having “too much money”.

It begs the question:

“If you're so rich, how come you're not smart?”

I’m a big fan of heart attacks for the Left. If we could only get Boxer, Steyer and Feinstein in one fell swope, the world would be a much better place.

Do I wish our Left ill will? No, just an immediate death and a place washing out toilets in Hell.

I’m tired of having traitors, crooks, crazies and cronies selling out America to our enemies. The more that die, the safer we will be.

I’m not vindictive. I’m just pissed off. Traitors deserve to die. Period. Loyal Americans need fellow citizens they can trust to guard their backs and their country. You aren’t going to find them on the Left so why not wish that they be eliminated so that we can get on with the business of taking out the Jihadists and their Marxist pals.

I would rather have a commie or a jihadist in front of me than a liberal behind me.

Who will monitor whether he actually pays his 13% California State Income Tax?

Liberal papers in California only investigate conservatives for tax evasion. Conservative papers are forbidden from asking such questions, as that would be racist or whatever. So, in short, no, no one will investigate it who has enough muscle to actually get a straight answer.
