Legend has it that Gen. John “Black Jack” Pershing would have dead Moro Islamic rebels buried with pig guts, while a surviving rebel watched. The survivor was released, to return to his comrades, and relay what he had seen.

I hope that it was true, but have never been able to corroborate the legend. None the less, to borrow a quote from Col. Oliver North, it is a “neat idea”.

I believe it was Blackjack Pershing, he had his troops dip the rounds in pigs blood when we were dealing with the Moro’s... Or as the legend goes.
