'That's not what Annie looks like. How come the new black Annie isn't good enough? Does that mean I'm not good enough?'
I doubt the 8 year old said that. Certainly not unless prompted and coached to say it. It is not something an 8 year old would come up with.
There are probably more theatrics associated with that quote than in the movie itself.

She is being prepared with all of the excuses for underperformance. Besides putting words in her mouth she never thought to utter, she is being prepared for something different, and it is NOT excuses for over/under or even 'performance'.
She is being taught her color is all that she needs, and how to use that color to browbeat anyone who stands in her way. That's what she is being taught. Next stop, a hissy fit atop a Burger King counter throwing condiments when she doesn't get it "her way."

“She saw the ad and said to me, ‘That’s not what Annie looks like. How come the new black Annie isn’t good enough? Does that mean I’m not good enough?’”
That’s right kid, you’re not good enough. Never forget it, it’s your ticket to lots of free stuff. Al Sharpton is on line two, he’ll explain how it works.

When multiculturalism meets reality.... I remember when some black actress, not a very good one, starred in a Broadway production of ‘How Green Was My Valley’, about life in a Welsh mining community of the 30s, the liberal arts mavens swooned and gushed but the play didn’t last a week.

I never did see the original film, Annie. I was offended by the fact the actress in the film was not authentic enough — she had eyes.

So you’re upset they didn’t hire a blind girl? Or alien.

This is just a publicity stunt, because ‘Annie’ is stinker at the box office. Its gross is still $11m below its production budget, so its net must be pitifully small. Plus it is not the kind of movie that will make it back on DVD and Blu Ray sales.
All told, back to back losses of an average of $40m for both The Interview and Annie, is going to leave a mark on Sony, which may be looking at numerous causes for losing about $500m for the year.

Annie was “supposedly” leaked by the North Koreans.
Sony had some clunkers in the release schedule and they tried to blame them on international intrigue.
