John Carter (R-Texas) and Roger Williams (R-Texas) added words to legislation of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that expanded “eligibility for the Purple Heart to include members of the Armed Forces who have been killed or wounded in an attack inspired or motivated by a foreign terrorist.” The NDAA passed both houses and was signed by President Obama on December 16, 2014.

So your position is that American Soldiers who are on duty and are killed by a terrorist traitor who has chosen to fight for our enemy should not be honored with a Purple Heart?

A REPRESENTATIVE Congress would have immediately taken up debate separate, special bill to to recognize the sacrifice that these heroes made in service to their country, even though it occurred on a 'safe' stateside military base.
Failing that, a truly American president would have immediately used his 'pen and phone' or write a executive order or memo to accomplish this.
This insane, PC, demonize-the military, deny-terrorism-at-all-costs attitude is disgusting and not worthy of any government representative of any political stripe.
I guess by your standard the servicemen who died at Pearl Harbor on 12/7 should not have gotten Purple Hearts because we were not at war with Japan at the time of the attack.

WASHINGTON — All members of the U.S. armed services killed or wounded in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will be awarded the Purple Heart, and the Defense Department has created the Defense of Freedom Medal to be awarded to all department civilians killed or wounded.
