e Connecticut Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the acquittal of a former Army medic who was sentenced to 15 months in prison for transporting a knife and police baton in his vehicle during a move out of state.

Justices issued a 7-0 decision in the appeal of former Clinton resident Jason DeCiccio. The court said part of the state law on illegal possession of weapons in a motor vehicle violates the Second Amendment because it bans people from transporting weapons between residences when they have the right to possess those weapons in their homes.

He beat the rap, but he didn't beat the ride.

It takes guts and money to fight something like this.

He ought to be able to sue the cop for legal fees.

That cuts pretty deep, in many directions. Freedom to transport, is not restricted. Wonder about the cross state lines issues....

The bad news is that it even had to get this far. This should never have been an issue as he was transporting it from his old residence to his new residence.

What do they expect? Is he supposed to hire someone to transport it for him?

The politicians deliberately and intentionally target honest, non-violent, law-abiding citizens who make a technical violation of the law.
The politicians deliberately and intentionally, with full awareness, leave guns in the hands of violent criminals.

Arresting a normal person gets the arrest statistics up, so they can crow about controlling crime.

Arresting a hardened criminal means they will have to battle a liberal lawyer who believes that criminals are not responsible for their crimes.
