When someone you either know or is somehow connected to you gets killed it becomes very personal. Newsreaders report death every day of the week. I’m sure they get inured to it. Is it really so surprising she got so emotional?
She found out that the victim was a sister of someone that she barely knows because of work, it seems odd to me that it would cause what will probably be the worst on air breakdown of her life.
He was out on bail because the case against him was so weak. If the police had had a stronger case, he would have been on remand.
It could be sloppy police work, but it wasn't political correctness.

They were talking about this very thing on the radio news this morning.Apparently one single shot would not have done it.It would have taken multiple shots to shatter the glass and then nail the perp.If that’s true then there most likely would have been way more hostages killed.
Only in movies one shot through a window would kill a terrorist.
Real life is so much more intricate.

That’s why you have two snipers fire as close together in time as possible. the first to break the glass and the second to make the shot. tough shot but I’m sure they were trying to get someone in position to make a shot..at least I hope they were.
