Every now and then, there's a moment in television that's raw, unscripted and almost shockingly authentic. Our office stopped this morning as Sunrise newsreader Natalie Barr revealed one of the hostages killed in the Martin Place siege was Katrina Dawson. The 38-year-old mother of three children was a lawyer and the younger sister of barrister Sandy Dawson, who has worked with Channel 7. Barr's grief as she struggled to maintain a professional face moved some to tears.
This is an awful morning for Australia, and it's the job of the media to report it as honestly and completely as it can. But as Natalie Barr so movingly illustrated, they don't always walk away unscathed.
What triggered it was finding out that there was a small connection to her TV station, kind of odd really.
Of course it’s horrible! But, in America, all we needed to know about Islam was learned on 9/11.
And we’re not one ‘smidgeon’ closer to stomping these cockroaches to death. It’s their turn in the barrel, so Toughen Up, Buttercup; there’s much more to come.
(Yep. I’m mean like that; like a Junkyard Dog.)
The Aussies are doing like the U.S. gov has been doing, flooding the country with Muslims hoping for violent chaos.
It’s an excellent and effective way to ramp up even more control...
It was tough to watch. And when they broke away to the other on-air personality, it was infuriating because he was criticising the Police Chief because the Chief turned down the attempt of local Muslims to “negotiate” with the Jihadist. He was, in essence, making the Chief the “bad guy” and the local Muslims the “good and well-intentioned guys”. Despicable....apparently some in the Aussie media are every bit the Muslim lovers as are the American media.
Islam is EVIL and needs to be eradicated

You REALLY need to put on your listening ears and watch the short video again. SHE KNEW THE MURDERED MOTHER OF THREE!
I don’t doubt for one MINUTE that you’re right!
shoulda ‘negotiated’ with the asshat a lot sooner.
i think #1 is never let local’muslims anywhere near this stuff. it won’t help and won’t stop it and you don’t stop evil with more moderated evil.
I hope Diane Feinstein sees this.
heart breaking
I won’t make one bit of difference to that vacuous, empty, corpse.
They have a really really stupid justice system. This crazy Iranian murderer was OUT ON BAIL for murdering his ex-wife!
Aussie political correctness has gone totally over board.
No she didn't know her, that is why she didn't recognize her name and make the connection, until someone told her, she said that she knew the barrister Sandy Dawson, because she had "done some work for channel 7".
""The 38-year-old mother of three children was a lawyer and the younger sister of barrister Sandy Dawson, who has worked with Channel 7.""
Waterboard Feinstein! It may rehydrate her prune face!!!
“he was criticising the Police Chief because the Chief turned down the attempt of local Muslims to negotiate with the Jihadist.”
Yes, the second half of the video is more interesting. This channel should fire this idiot. The reporter is monday morning quarterbacking and inferring that when you have a muslim extremist kidnapper, the best thing to do is call some other muslim extremists to help negotiate.
Outlaw Islam.
Expel all Muslims.
Stop all aid to Muslim lands.
Sorry, I stand corrected. I’m the one who needs to put his listening ears on. The reporter did say “Sandy Dawson, who I know...” and I thought she was discussing the deceased (who was actually Sandy’s younger sister).
sadness
Well with the topic of the thread being sorrow over a death that is only hours old, I took a risk posting my observation, but it does seems off putting to me that this reporter can report on the story and stories like it, until someone mentions a most tenuous connection to herself, and suddenly the woman’s death becomes heart breathtakingly tragic to her.
