FRANKLIN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A dispute over graduation gowns has begun at Franklin High School.
At issue is whether all students should wear the same color robes so others aren't discriminated against.
At the high school's graduation ceremony, it has been a long running tradition for boys to wear blue gowns and for girls to wear white. But that tradition is changing
"There will be a change, I think," said Peter Light, the school's principal. "We have yet to determine what that change looks like."
The call for change started when members of the school's Gay Student Alliance organization became concerned with transgender students and gender equality.

I can’t believe that this is all some people have to worry about. What little lives they lead.
Someone’s feelings are hurt. Probably ONE person.
So therefor the entire school must change to conform to that one person’s feeeeelings.
They really are crazy. Just go with rainbow gowns and be done with it.
Used to be, highschool kids were worried about being drafted to war after highschool.
Now they are having panic attacks over the color of a dress?
It's Franklin, so, yeah.
A high school has a "gay alliance"????? And it runs around haranguing the administration about whether graduation gown colors discriminate against transgender people??? This is insane.
At one time in history, the wierdos were shunned, ostracized.
Now, the world turns itself into a pretzel in order to accommodate them...
Strange times.
blue for the boys,
white fir the girls and
baby blue for all others ???
Almost all public schools nowadays have homosexual student clubs, FYI. Not sure why this is permitted but anyway FYI
“The call for change started when members of the school’s Gay Student Alliance organization became concerned with transgender students and gender equality.”
These little f*^%# AGAIN!
So for maybe 3 perverts, everyone else has to change the tradition?
Had they actually gotten educated there, this would not be an issue. Since they were indoctrinated, it is.
They lack the wisdom to understand the difference.
Scarlett red would work for me.
I would love to be an administrator who receives the ever anonymous complaint from that 'one parent' or the even more ambiguous 'people'.
My standard response would always be;
"Thank you for coming to see me with your concerns. I have spoken with my staff and your concerns have been documented and given consideration. At this time we would suggest that you go out to your peers in the community and gather signatures from like minded people. When the total amount of signatures you gather represent at least 51% of people affected by any decision we make....then we will give your suggestions a second look and may actually acquiesce to your demands. Until then, have a nice day."
As for Franklin High...which is the next town over from me...I believe the students have to pay for their cap and gown attire and thus should have the lion's share of input on what they look like.
The should all wear sackcloth.
They are, but I always thought that the boys should wear white and the girls wear the alternate color. Boys generally don’t care if their robe makes them look fat or not. :)
There’s gonna be a pushback some day, and it won’t be pretty.
The push will be against everything from the ivory tower pinheads in academia, to the loony politicians that implement their insanity, to the “activists” that push and push and push their twisted worldview on everybody else.
Tar and feathers will be at a premium.
No the Scarlett Letter was associated with normal sex...
When an insane member of a protected minority whimpers, spineless wimps bow down in abject submission and ask how to relieve their guilt.
Nothing should be done. The answer should have been “Sorry, we have better things to worry about than the colors of gowns worn one time for a few hours. Get a life.”
And the principal would have been fired and run out of town.
hmmm....guess that explains why at my daughter’s college commencement they were all wearing the same color.
