Update, 4 p.m. Tuesday: The latest fallout from a series of Berkeley protests against police violence: The Berkeley City Council has canceled its Tuesday night meeting. The decision was made as activists from Occupy Oakland called for a shutdown of the meeting.
A statement from Mayor Tom Bates suggested the meeting was scratched because of capacity issues:

Democrat Held Territory is become very dangerous ,I think they should put up signs
Mayor Bates better start crackin the whip, or the OWS will take complete control and make him look as foolish as ex-Oakland Mayor Quan looked, marching arm in arm with the anarchist devils. A lotta good that did her in the elections.
What a bunch of wimps ... back in the day we tried to levitate the Pentagon, now that was a protest. ;-)
Appeasement just leads to trouble.
nuke Occupy
someone needs to make that man their priority
Tom Bates was a military veteran with about 10 years service yet he married a communist from Berkeley named Loni Hancock. They switched seats and mayoralship over the past 20 years.
Why he became a red is very puzzling but with a wife like Hancock (whose red record is extremely long), it is similar to DeBlasio marrying his red wife.
A nice piece on both of them re their communist histories would be very informative and give you an insight into the red asshole known as Berkeley.
Interesting background. Under the category ‘The Things We Do For Love’. I just know I would hate to have a small business on Telegraph Ave. near the University right now. I’m guessing that area, which includes ‘People’s Park” is full of smashed out windows, and the air hangs heavy with California Gold (Medical!) Marijuana.
They “Shut Down The Government”?
I thought that was the worst thing anyone could possibly do.
theres all manner of confusion...in Berserkely...in gubment and out
Soros alone has thrown million their way from what I am led to understand.
coming soon to a Bezerkley near you
he’s without any doubt the biggest threat to the Republic at this point.
and a one percenter....at that.....
not if I see em coming...
So the protest did do some good.
Smashed windows and plywood at: Chase Bank at Shattuck Avenue and Center Street, AT&T phone store nearby, Paris Baguette nearby, McDonald's at Shattuck Avenue and University Avenue, Trader Joe's (University Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way (ne' Grove Street)). That's just a sampling.
How is Half Price Books on Shattuck? I love that store. You can’t go in there without finding an armload of books. Really inexpensive too. It’s worth going into liberal-land Berkeley.
Trader Joes’ probably wonders “What did we do wrong?” They are very ‘green’ in that this store was one of the first to disallow plastic bags. They have aisles full of Organic items. The store decor is gratuitously faux shabby. What’s not to like?” Same with Whole Foods. Suddenly, they too are the enemy.
After all the windows have been smashed for the tenth time that month, after 50% of the business owners decide to move away to Ashby, Point Richmond, Pittsburg or El Cerrito, who then, is ‘the friend? He who has nothing?
