Washington (CNN) -- Half of Americans believe Republican control of both chambers of Congress will be bad for the country, and a majority say it will in fact cause more gridlock in Washington, according to a new CNN/ORC nationwide poll.
But the poll also shows the Republican Party's brand has improved over the past year, and they now are only slightly less popular than the Democratic Party. Democratic Party approval levels, meanwhile, have remained static.
According to the survey, 50 percent of Americans believe the GOP taking control of the House and the Senate next year will be bad for America, and 52 percent expect it to lead to more gridlock. Another 37 percent, however, expect to see no difference in the levels of gridlock in Congress.

Gridlock: freedom from redundant and Orwellian laws and pork projects
And ‘bad for the country’ - how, exactly? And if the split is 50/50 why aren’t we hearing about the good half?
Half = Democrats
A news story about a poll about what people are predicting ... like that’s not easy to manipulate.
many of us LIKE grid lock......when there’s a Dim in the White House!
Half of Americans believe Obama’s continued occupancy of the Presidency will be bad for the country, and a majority say it will in fact cause more gridlock in Washington, according to a new CNN/ORC nationwide poll.
What’s a CNN?
I don’t care as long as the jug eared, purple lipped blue gummer is reined in and controlled. Mostly, Gridlock is GOOD.
The CNN article purports “the Republican Party’s brand
(is) ... only slightly less popular than the Democratic
Party.” and yet the Democrats LOST, LOST, LOST,
and obviously had to hire the MSM to lie about polls.
Actually, as far as anything the Democrats want, and more importantly, anything Obama wants, I expect, nay DEMAND, gridlock.
To me, bi-partisanship is telling the loser side to like or lump it. Elections have consequences. They certainly followed this tack when they were in charge.
1. When the president of the United States willfully discounts any attempt to right the Ship of State using the Constitution by lawfully-ellected Republicans.
CNN?
Isn’t that the info commercial they show at airports.
Braindead Progressives' intent on "feeling good" about themselves flopped bigtime---trillions in deficits, endless spending, the surveillance state, the Obamacare atrocity.
Failure to protect US citizens from scurrilious border-jumpers from Third World hellholes, failure to protect US borders, are utter failures of Obama's "fundamental transformation."
Drive by's oughta wake up to the facts--- the more the left zaps true Americans, the more reactive they become.
Americans have had enough of "Progressivism", thank you.
They just effing VOTED for it... Good God, this country is one huge psycho ward.
We have fallen so far from our Constitutional understanding and from our principles that it's a miracle we haven't had a military coup - yet.
First of all: Control of Congress is determined by the People of the United States of America, who are the sovereign that wrote the Constitution in the first place. There is only one poll that counts, this year, it took place on November 4, and the result is, by definition, legitimate.
Second: People, especially those who follow politics, have become addicted to polls and polling, neither of which have any legitimate function in the governing of a Republic.
Third, the headline contains an embedded fallacy - if 50% of Americans believed GOP control of Congress was bad for America, then the GOP would not be in control of Congress.
Do you think there will or won't be gridlock in the Congress this year?
Poll reply: Yes!
What? You've never seen a clogged toilet?!
Although you have to wonder: how much of the population actually voted? Because in most election, since only a fraction of adults actually vote, you don’t have to actually have 50 percent of the adult population’s votes to win, it’s actually closer to 20 percent of the adult population’s votes. But it just goes to show that liberals probably weren’t motivated enough to vote, probably too busy partying, assuming that they automatically would win like in 2012, or figured that since they weren’t voting for that wonderful Obama for president, all would be well. If anything, goes to show how inept and not so bright plenty of the “adults” in this country are.
