Mexican president hails Obama's immigration reform

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto hailed US President Barack Obama's sweeping steps on immigration, saying they were "most important measures taken in several decades" and would allow families to stay together.

Obama's plan, unveiled on Thursday, eases the threat of deportation for some 4.7 million immigrants, many of them Mexican, who are in the United States without legal documents.

"I want to publicly recognize the President of the United States for yesterday's announcement," Pena Nieto told a conference in Mexico. "These measures bring relief to principally Mexican immigrants."

"Those who will benefit will be migrants of Mexican origin who have been living in the United States for years ... This is an act of justice which recognizes the great contribution of millions of Mexicans to the development of our neighbor."

There are about 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Obama's plan would let some 4.4 million who are parents of US citizens and legal permanent residents and who have been in the country for at least five years remain in the country temporarily, without the threat of deportation.

An additional 270,000 people would be eligible for relief under the expansion of a 2012 move by Obama to stop deporting people brought illegally to the United States as children by their parents.

Pena Nieto said he had instructed Mexico's consular service to help those Mexicans who wish to take advantage of the reform.

Obama's Republican rivals have vowed to fight his immigration push.

OK. So has El Presidente Nieto opened up that border fence they built against Guatemala under El Presidente Calderon’s tenure?

Of course he did. He just depopulated his country and got rid of all the undesirables at the same time.

Of course he is happy to have this country keep them here; he won’t have to deal with them himself if they had to go back to Mexico.

When will Mehico open its borders to US citizens so we can wander around at will and do whatever we want?

Let Mexico reform their illegal law ....

If we treated illegals from Mexico the way their law treats illegals they'd be howling to the UN over human rights ...

DECLARATION OF WAR!

Polk received word of the Thornton Affair, which, added to the Mexican government’s rejection of Slidell, Polk believed, constituted a casus belli (cause for war).[26]

His message to Congress on May 11, 1846, stated that “Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon American soil.”

Congress approved the declaration of war on May 13, with southern Democrats in strong support. Sixty-seven Whigs voted against the war on a key slavery amendment,[29] but on the final passage only 14 Whigs voted no,[29] including Rep. John Quincy Adams.

Congress declared war on Mexico on May 13, 1846, after only having a few hours to debate. Although President Paredes’s issuance of a manifesto on May 23 is sometimes considered the declaration of war, Mexico officially declared war by Congress on July 7.

The money sent back to their families en Mexico by the Mexicans living (legally and illegally) in U.S. represent the greatest contribution to the GNP of Mexico second only after the Oil Industry. Mexico send to U.S. their poor and uneducated while their remittances to their families In Mexico make even richer the corrupt Mexican politicians.

Figures from Mexico’s central bank (Banco de México) show that the value of remittances sent home by Mexicans working in the USA.

Annual remittance totals in billions of dollars:
•2013 – 21.596
•2012 – 22.438
•2011 – 22.802
•2010 – 21.303

Of course he applauds. We are the safety valve that prevents a Mexican revolution.

Yup. Immigration into the US is a relief valve, since the folks coming here are primarily members of the Mexican (and other Central American) underclass who would form the foot soldiers of any sort of popular uprising/revolution.

If the Republicans want to wipe the smile off his face they'll sneak a clause into a bill mandating a very high tax on any money sent by an individual in the US to another individual in Mexico via wire transfer.

The article: “Pena Nieto said he had instructed
Mexico’s consular service to help those Mexicans
who wish to take advantage of the reform.”

(equal)

Nieto wants to help more Mexicans take
US tax dollars (”Earned Income Tax
Credit”) and send them to Mexico.
Current account enhancements without
the work. Heck, they don’t even have
to be in the US, as I’m sure many of
them will not be.

Obozo wants to give them SSNs and allow them to file for the EIC so they end up getting more back in taxes then they paid in.
