People in the Buffalo, New York, area have been snowed in for the second straight day, and some are even trapped at stores or jobs because of a sudden huge snowstorm. And it isn't over. More snow is expected to pound upstate New York today, as officials frantically try to clear massive truckloads of snow from the area.

How a Basketball Team Spent a Day Stranded on a Bus in a Snowstorm New York Dealing With Massive Snow; Storm Looming The storm that dumped 5 feet of snow has resulted in seven deaths and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said today that more than 5,000 tons of snow have already been removed from south Buffalo. Despite the effort to dig out 132 miles of the New York State Thruway remained closed for a second day.

The Buffalo Bills football team offered $10 an hour plus game tickets for people willing to help shovel out the stands -- if they could get to the stadium in Orchard Park.

Meanwhile, residents are posting photos of the snow piling up outside their cars or home windows, and there's even a hashtag -- #snowvember.

Patti Mahaney said she's stranded at home for the second day in a row and there's more than four feet of snow in the parking lot of her apartment building, near the stadium where the Buffalo Bills play.

Bye Buffalo. See you when you resurface in April. Well, maybe June next year instead.

I would make jokes about Al Whore and his global warming scam but that snow is creating serious hardship for those poor people. On another forum a guy’s talking about his friend, a truck driver, stuck in his truck around Buffalo. The snow’s so deep the driver can’t even see the cars around him.

And this is only the first big storm. Winter is still almost a month away. Hopefully the great lakes will freeze over and stop this kind of snow.

Members of the wife's side of the family live in south Buffalo, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Depew in Western New York State.

Depending on which family member we manage to get through to either via phone, text or facebook (well, it's good for something) they're all stranded with anywhere between 4 feet and nearly seven feet of snow plus drifting, piling up outside their homes.

Thankfully everyone's safe and the reality is these types snowstorms are not uncommon for that area. Family members there are pretty well stocked up for the winter and aren't in dire need of food, etc.. Amazingly, the electricity is still on, water's still flowing and toilets are flushing.

This could be a whole lot worse than it is. They're used to dealing with it. Some of the pictures we've gotten back via email and facebook are incredible. One uncle's driveway has the snow piled so high on each side it's well over his 6'4" head. He was lucky -- he kept snow throwing as the snow came down but the only thing he managed to do is keep his driveway and front door open. Lotta good that'll do, I guess if he wants to drive his car back and forth on his driveway he's all set -- snowplow won't be down his street for another two days or so.

BTW: Buffalo snow plows are incredible machines if you haven't seen one yet....
