A Republican congressman known as a pit bull in Washington said Thursday that he doesn't support the idea of impeachment proceedings against President Obama because winning that fight would elevate the vice president to the Oval Office.
'Have you met Joe Biden?' South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy asked during a Fox News Channel interview.
Impeachment talk has swirled around Washington since the president announced that an executive order overhauling America's immigration system is imminent.
But some in the GOP see Biden as Obama's hedge against removal from office, since much of his public exposure has come in conjunction with a series of embarrassing gaffes.
A senior aide to a House Republican told MailOnline on Friday that 'Avoiding the "I" word' is a case of 'better the devil you know than the devil you don't.'
'Only in this case, we're pretty sure we know both devils. And Biden – he's two floppy shoes short of a complete clown outfit. Let's be honest: He's Obama's insurance policy.'
In a speech this year, Biden told a gathering of African leaders that Africa was a country, not a continent.
It brought back memories of a 2008 photo-op outside Biden's home where he told journalists that he had just returned from 'a successful dump,' which turned out to be a trip to a nearby landfill.
In 2010 he had a diplomatic face-palm moment by consoling Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen on the loss of his mother – who was very much alive.
In 2012 he made the sign of the cross while on stage to address a group of more than 1,600 Jewish rabbis.

Even Joe Biden would be an improvement.
No, I just think he’s being too glib and following orders from Boehner. I know he can be tough but nothing comes from it because Boehner won’t take it to the lawless administration.
At this point, Biden does not sound so bad. Now if we could just push the Current Occupant to resign from all the perks and official trappings of the Oval Orifice in the White Hut, this would all go so much more smoothly.
Gerald Ford’s mistake in 1974 was pardoning Nixon, when emotions were still so raw. That probably precipitated the boom of the “ethical” Jimmy Carter, a man of much less virtue than Ford, a good and decent man with the best interests of America at heart.
If Biden were to be elevated to office (fervently wishing it would be through the resignation of the Current Occupant), and not repeat the mistake of Gerald Ford, he would be in a most excellent position to repel Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, for any real contention for the office, as the expiration date could be clearly read by that time.
I doubt Biden would know which hand to raise ....
Like the destructive anti-American trade laws, massive looting government unions, declining economy, shrinking dollar, open lawless violent borders, stagnate wages, ever growing/expanding controlling government, there is nothing we can do...Congress, the people...We're all helpless against Obama.
Even if Obama accidentally nuked Houston and Oklahoma City and brought in tens of thousands of cannibals with flesh eating viruses. were just stuck with him for two more years.
So everyone stop complaining and acting like malcontents.

I will gladly take Biden with some dementia over obama who is a clear and present danger doing his treasonous utmost to destroy the underpinnings of the nation.
