Krauthammer: The Gruber Confession

It’s not exactly the Ems Dispatch (the diplomatic cable Bismarck doctored to provoke the 1870 Franco-Prussian War). But what the just-resurfaced Gruber Confession lacks in world-historical consequence, it makes up for in world-class cynicism. This October 2013 video shows MIT Professor Jonathan Gruber, a principal architect of Obamacare, admitting that, in order to get it passed, the law was made deliberately obscure and deceptive. It constitutes the ultimate vindication of the charge that Obamacare was sold on a pack of lies.

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” said Gruber. “Basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.” This was no open-mic gaffe. It was a clear, indeed enthusiastic, admission to an academic conference of the mendacity underlying Obamacare.

First, Gruber said, the bill’s authors manipulated the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which issues gold-standard cost estimates of any legislative proposal: “This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes.” Why? Because “if CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies.” And yet, the president himself openly insisted that the individual mandate — what you must pay the government if you fail to buy health insurance — was not a tax....

Here is some more obfuscation coming from the Left so you are not surprised. Obamacare is not alone by a damn sight.

1) Global Warming: Fossil fuels are dramatically changing the climate. Unproven, and they admit they do not understand how the climate changes naturally, let alone from these trace gases. Yet they claim it for massive political and government control, with a socialistic grab at the means of production.

2) White police officers shooting black teenagers is deliberately keeping the black race down. Another bogus claim that only helps them politically. To think a handful of gunshots which are justified, swamps the tens of thousands of murders done by the Crips and Bloods, and the 75% of illegitimacy in the ghettos and fatherless homes doesn’t even warrant an honorable mention next to the White Cop Murder Conspiracy theory. I cannot take the liars seriously.

3) Benghazi - was caused by a video. Deliberate obfuscation? The defense rests.

4) The IRS was equal in its abuse of permitting 501 C4’s among both liberals and conservative groups - another whopper, given an infinite number of pinocchios.

5) The new IRS head is looking up all of Lois Lerners’ emails - another whopper proven false. They did not search for one while they abused citizens for their political belief.

6) If you use chemical weapons it is crossing a red line...let’s not talk about red lines anymore, because Obama lied on that one.

7) Fast and Furious - Bush did it.

8) Bush screwed up the VA and it was a wreck when I got it so let me run on it and fix it....Obola did and it only became worse under his incompetent leadership.

9) This is a nation of racist cowards, ... was Holder referring to himself, and the liar Sharpton, because that would be truth rather than obfuscation.

10) Voter ID is just racism and there is no voter fraud....that’s because Mickey Mouse and Adolf Hitler are actual voters registered by Acorn and they need to be respected.

I just rattled that off.
