The Midterms Were Only Bad for Women If You Have a Very Narrow View of Women
Slate ^ | 11/7/2014 | Jessica Grose

A headline on the Cut announces that the midterm election results were “Bad News for Women.” Under it, Ann Friedman argues that even though there were several “prominent victories” for Republican women this week—including combat veteran and hog castrator Joni Ernst in Iowa, black Mormon Mia Love in Utah, and youngest woman to ever be elected to Congress Elise Stefanik in New York—because they do not support abortion rights and are pro-gun, that means their wins are not a boon for women.

I’m not sure I agree. If you are against everything Joni Ernst or Mia Love stand for, then this election was bad for you, and the policies you care about, not bad for women. It should be obvious, but “women”—half the population—are not a uniform voting block with uniform ideas about what is best for them. Though Friedman claims that Ernst was “a woman candidate whom most women voted against,” NBC’s Iowa exit poll shows that’s just not the case: Ernst and her opponent Bruce Braley split the female vote evenly, 49 to 49 percent.

Though I personally find Ernst’s far right views terrifying (she believes in fetal personhood and wants to abolish the EPA and the Department of Education), “women” in Iowa do not agree with me, and she’s their representative, not mine.

A sane liberal.

She recognizes women have all kinds of beliefs that should be respected and women across the political spectrum should run for public office.

If only more people like her thought like this in this country, we’d be making real progress.

I respect a liberal who can do more than throw insults and temper tantrums at Republicans.

The leftist writer thinks these are bad things. I say it would be a good start.

Clear thoughts on what when she is terrified by "fetal personhood" and the abolition of the EPA and the Department of Education.

Every parent who wants a child believes that the growing embryo is a person to be. Abolition of EPA and Education? Wow? The smoking craters should be dedicated as testimony to the folly of mankind.

Most women try to take care of themselves as best they can during their pregnancies to try to have a healthy baby. To these women, it’s not an amorphous mass, it’s their potential baby, and they want that baby to survive and thrive!

Abolish the EPA and the Dept. of Education. An excellent start!

The clear thought that the election of Republican women is not bad for women, just for leftism.

Well, this new swing vote is a fraction of the demographic, so I guess for them it’s about “Girl Power” — emphasizing the impact of identity politics.

The Democrats should unify the “Global Warming” and “War on Women” mandates to “Global Warming on Women.”

The midterms were good even for democrats.. if they were not elected officials....
When a democrat WINS elected office.. (any democrat) Everybody loses..

In every case, every time.. always.. no matter who it is..
Same is mostly true when a RINO wins.. not always but almost always..

I am always amazed at the leftists who say it is “pro-women” to not allow a woman to own a gun and defend herself. The liberals will say sexist things like, a gun is a mechanical thing that most women couldn’t understand how to use, a woman might not have the strength to pull the trigger, a woman might panic and let an attacker take her gun, etc.

A sane liberal. She recognizes women have all kinds of beliefs that should be respected and women across the political spectrum should run for public office.

Liberals are not sane by definition - they want to use totalitarianism to enforce peace. That is the very definition of insanity.

What I think she's worried about is liberal women exploding into factions. She's trying to keep then as a single voting block by supporting their different views. It sounds crazy, but is how liberal women think - you have to constantly support their free choice if you want them to act as a group. They are neurotic narcissists in total denial. Only by playing to their monstrous conceit will they admit they crave to follow the group.

Against this you now have conservative women winning elections. This makes liberal women doubt themselves, and get afraid. If you attack their ability to make up their own minds, they rebel. So what the Rats have to do is support women making their own mind up, but denouncing particular choices outside of the plantation.

In other words, we're looking at a control theory argument among Leftist females. The Hillary camp wants to snarl "loyalty" and destroy the doubters and terrify the rest into compliance. The more sophisticated Leftist females know they have to support choice while encouraging particular choices. This is the true ideological civil war of the Left - how to control the liberal sheep.

Hilary's problem is that her droids went and raised their daughters as narcissistic feminists, just as they were told to. But now those daughters vote, and they're feed up with Hillary/Mom viciousness, and looking for their own representative of what they think is their uniqueness.

The clash of these millions of monsters of immaturity in multiple screeching factions against each other is the current Rat party.

I'm sure she looked at the political landscape in Washington and suddenly realized that the Republicans have suddenly become the more diverse party by almost every objective measure -- and a big reason for it was that we had Democratic women losing to white Republican men, and Republican women defeating white Democratic men.

I suspect a lot of liberal white women are realizing they are foregoing children while subsidizing a new generation of darker, foreign “Americans”...and that they areleaving nothing behind while these replacement Americans inherit the Earth. Liberal women got to “play man” in the workplace, and they hate it; in the meantime, they see others breeding while enjoying lives of leisure at their expense.

...posted on Facebook that she was glad to see Democratic Sen. Mark Udall lose his race. “The ads angered me,” she wrote of Udall’s TV commercials like “Backwards,” which focused on women’s access to abortion and contraception. “As a woman, all I care about is my private parts?

It only took liberal women 30 years to figure out white liberal elite MEN cared deeply about making sure the 'monicas' of the world have access to abortions? My God, abortion's the religion of Hollywood casting couch moguls... don't they know that?

Republican women care about national defense, schools, the economy, unprotected borders, ISIS, trade relations with China... and birth control. Liberal women care about birth control and abortion... very sad.

If Jessica Grose is given a voice on the left it'll cut into our ability to pull women from the left to our side. Right now, women on the left are realizing they've been played for fools. Liberal elite men portray them as childlike beings who care about what's between their legs - not what's between their ears.
