World's Most Powerful Man Threatens NATO, Ukraine
Investor's Business Daily ^ | November 7, 2014 | IBD EDITORIALS

Balance Of Power: As Vladimir Putin tops the Forbes list of powerful men, Russia targets NATO with air incursions and moves missiles toward Ukraine. As it does, Finland warns Europe is "at the gates of a new kind of cold war."

President Obama may soon have more to worry about than what brand of Kentucky bourbon he'll share when he meets with new Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Considering the recent actions of Russia's president, a round of vodka might be in order, a Finnish brand while it's still available.

Forbes says its rankings are based on "an evaluation of hard power" and reflect the ability of those ranked to "wield the kind of power that shapes and bends the world, and moves people, markets, armies and minds."

Putin is on the march as the lamest of lame-duck presidents watches the world move on without him.

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto spoke to the British newspaper Guardian from his private residence before a conference Thursday at the Northern Future Forum with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Nordic and Baltic state leaders.

The President of the United States used to be the most powerful person in the world. Once Obama usurped that position, promising change, he delivered. Now the leader of Russia is the most powerful person in the world. Those who oppose freedom (from the Crimea and the rest of the Ukraine to the Arab world) are celebrating Obama’s accomplishments, bringing Hope to tyrants everywhere and Change to those who used to enjoy freedom and stability.

” As Vladimir Putin tops the Forbes list of powerful men,”

Forbes out to be horse-whipped for printing this.

Obama has been revealed as a paper tiger he is. In the next two years it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Red Chinese invade Taiwan and go Tiananmen Square on Hong Kong. And the Norks heading for Seoul isn’t exactly unthinkable any more. Power abhors a vacuum.

Makes one long for the day, a mere six years ago, when our enemies FEARED us and our allies TRUSTED us.

Freedom/Liberty is pretty damn fragile. 0bama is a case study in how easily it can be lost!

It's such an unfortunate way to categorize the guy.  It in effect rewards him for his treachery.

Just because you can cause the world to be on the brink of another global war, that doesn't mean you're the most powerful man in the world.  It means you're the most delusional man with some power in the world.

Forbes was too clever by half here.

Poopin perpetrated acts of war.  It annexed Crimea and invaded the Ukraine.  Cooler heads prevailed.  He's gotten away with it so far.  What comes next?  There very well may be a global war.

That doesn't make him powerful.  It makes him reckless, dangerous, calculatingly mad, and a global threat to peace.  Here we go slipping back into the darkness of a cold war, and all because Mr. Poopin couldn't hold it until he got to the bathroom in private.

The rubel is at an all-time low compared to the dollar.  His economy is in a shambles.  He's getting his own citizens killed to boost his popularity.  He's helping Iran get the bomb, which could easily be used first on his fellow citizens.  The man is bat-sh-- crazy.

Brilliant?  Laughable...

Putin is not finished taking territory in Ukraine and notice how the west has done nothing to help Ukraine in the meantime.

Why? It is patently obvious that Obozo doesn’t want the title and is doing everything in his power to cripple the US military.

Yeah, you’re right. For the first time there’s a generation of Russians who weren’t raised under a Communist system and people still young enough, relatively speaking, who do remember those days of oppression and privation and I could hardly image they’d want to see that again. And now that they have certain freedoms, can own a real car, an apartment, 500 channel cable tv access, many of them have become millionaires, why in the world would they want to go getting killed for Putin?

Ask McCain who are submitting articles to Pravda agitating Russian leftover commies to take on government.
A presence of generation who weren’t raised under communist system has its downsides too.
There are people, typical to western lefties who value socialism for achievements like space program and free health care and opting to ignore shortages and Gulags because they haven’t really experienced it first hand.

My friend is hosting two foreign exchange students, one from Thailand, the other fro Taiwan. The Taiwan student is worried about Hong Kong and the Red Chinese invading his country. If this keeps up, we might have someone seeking asylum here in the Ohio Valley. Noted libertarian, Robert J. Ringer once wrote in the 1970's where he would not be surprised that Taiwan has made their own nukes at that time from their reactors as a deterrent and/or final blow against Red China in case that happens. Sort of like their own version of the Jericho Option.
