Whatever Happened to That 'Permanent' GOP Minority?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 11/05/2014 | John Merline

In the wake of the 2012 presidential election, it wasn't hard to find a pundit or political analyst issuing grim forecasts for the Republican Party, some of which look fairly ridiculous in hindsight.

As Rush and others are pointing out, this election sweep wasn’t about putting the pubs in power, it was about discontent with Obama’s handling of things. The current crop or RINOs would have been happy to stay as a minority but woke up Wed morning to find majority status thrust upon them. With soggy underpants, they quickly start reaching across the aisle..

What Rush Limbaugh has referred to as the “moderates” finally got a big enough dose of reality to raise some sort of resistance. The Democrats have gone a bridge (or maybe several bridges) too far, and they found their return route cut off. They are doomed to the wilderness until they begin to take the message of this most recent election to heart.

It took the Republican minority leadership marching down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House to convince Richard Nixon to resign. The Democrats are nowhere near that brave, but if they have any hope whatsoever to recover by 2016 or even 2020, they shall have to take a similar course of action.

Perhaps something similar to what happened to Warren G. Harding could be their salvation. What was described as “appendicitis” which supposedly caused Harding’s death was in fact a hidden action to remove him from power. I’m not saying that was an assassination, just a little malign neglect.

His successor, Calvin Coolidge, proceeded with the prosecution of the corruption that was throughout the Harding Administration and purged the worst factors that had been part of that scheme.

It sure seems that way. The Rinos must lead now. It scares them, so they default to sucking their thumbs and clutching their mommy's apron. Maybe Joni Ernst will make a few Rinos squeal too.

Government ministrys of information nbc etal propagate and promote relentlessly that the Republicans are evil and in the minority. Had this election been an democrat take over instead they would be all over it analyzing interviewing drawing conclusions commenting favorably. This morning NBC todeu led with abduction of person and car crash incidentally both of which had happy happy endings . Keeps the smiles going.
_SNARF very loudly

The Democrats will NEVER take the message that America wants less government to heart - NEVER. Ever increasing government is the core of their being. If they for one moment stopped believing in the premise that government should control everything they would cease to exist because that's all there is to them.

On a similar note, Republicans will squander this opportunity to re-establish freedom and cut taxes, because there isn't anything to them - no core belief. They don't actually stand FOR anything, but simply represent a different set of faces swilling at the public trough. I'll make a prediction here (very safe) and say that nothing substantive in the way of government rollbacks will get done by the Rs while they're in power.

Where appropriate, draconian prosecutions and budget cuts need to be implemented against rogue agencies for political and economic persecutions against private citizens and businesses. People need to go to jail, or have their funding and/or agencies eliminated. Agencies which have lavished funding for groups like ACORN, or which have lavished billions for housing and economic support for illegal aliens should be abolished.

Just as the Obamaphiles took a big fall, the new majority can just as easly tumble by messing up what they were handed.

there is an alternative....... Obama drug it out into view. There is still a Republican minority but it was obscured by the majority that stayed home and did not vote

Now that’s funny

Obama drug it out into full view at his depressing presser yesterday. There is still a Republican minority but Boobamba says it was obscured by "the majority" that stayed home and did not vote.

Watta guy---now he's Karnak---he can see through men's minds and he knows all of those who stayed home really, really love him.......and are hard and fast supporters of his policies.

======================================

REALITY CHECK Yesterday’s news conference was Exhibit A ----Obama is a delusional narcissist, unfit for office.

He could not disguise it----he was seething w/ rage.

Being rejected was not supposed to happen---none of his advisors "told him" America could go to the polls and actually vote against the policies he, himself, asserted were on the ballot.

Since prog/libs have no moral compass, recognize no limis on their behavior----and are driven by vanity and egotism---his undisguised wrath knows no bounds.

That means we, the people, are in danger every minute he still has power.

Permanent minority was more inferred from the term “durable majority” (a.k.a. single party state) advocated for the Demagogic Party.

Eisenhower was recruited by both parties after the war; he professed to having no party affiliation — probably the sign of a Great-Middle FDR supporter — but purportedly ran as a Pubbie because he was worried about the development of a single party state, such as the US had just helped destroy in Germany and Italy (Japanese political parties were not exactly a factor in the rise of their imperial expansion).

He was the first Republican President reelected to a second term, after having been elected to a first one (IOW, TR doesn’t count, he succeeded an assassinated predecessor), and to serve it out, since Ulysses S. Grant.

The next one was Ronald Reagan.

The next two years are going to see more of the “I won’t vote this and I won’t vote that” and out of left field (literally) trolls’ comments about anything and everything done by Republicans — and they are coming to a thread near you, right here on FR.

Tuesday night drove Obama right over the edge into a full psychotic break. Hussein is not only the worst president this country has ever seen, he is by far the most mentally ill. Obama is a narcissistic sociopath who has ZERO regard for the American people. In fact, I do believe he is actively trying to kill is off. To Obama, we are mere cogs in the machine for him to do with as he pleases. Someone of this extreme mental instability has no business anywhere near a leadership role.

If only that were true. This election will have little to do with the next one in 2016. Nobody goes down without a fight in politics and the 'rats will not go away just because they got whacked this year. Tomorrow is another day, the forces of decomposition and evil will be back with a vengeance, more hard leftist more dishonest and more malignant than ever.

You are right. His statement, that his policies were on the ballot was the most remarkable and revealing statement politician has ever made. Did he actually believe that was a good selling point for democrat candidates? Apparently he did. Lack of self awareness to this degree is a dangerous trait in powerful people.

It is postponed for two years until people realize that a party running on nothing but, “We’re not the other guy” is not any better. When and if they start pushing the Left’s agenda (amnesty and such), the voters will go back to voting for the real Democrats and not the Democrats disguised as Republicans.

You left a very important segment out of the equation, that is us, the voters, the American people themselves. We have to play our part too. If the GOP does propose cuts to big government, we better not scream bloody murder when they do. Time after time I have seen voters select smaller government on election day but immediately fold when small government is attempted. If the people really stand for smaller government, we will get smaller government. If what we mean as smaller government, is cut the other guys handouts and leave our own alone, well, then the whole exercise will be one of futility.
