Marijuana legalization on track for easy passage in D.C.

Marijuana legalization appeared on its way to passing easily at the polls in the District on Tuesday, putting the city at the vanguard of a nationwide movement that also saw Oregon and Alaska consider pro-pot initiatives on Election Day.

Many D.C. voters who took to the polls Tuesday framed their support of the initiative in terms of social justice, saying they favored legalization because it would bring an end to arrests and discrimination against marijuana users, specifically young black men.

This doesn’t really mean anything. They’re all a bunch of potheads already.

Can’t blame them. I’d need to be high to survive living in D.C.

Wait until they find out the tax burden that the IRS will toss their way if they buy weed from an outside source (70% (unless the grow their own)) ... will be cheaper for most to buy from their local underground dealer.

Dealers in Washington State have to buy product from permitted growers and the material is bar coded from start to finish for tracking. State does audit.

That woman who hung out with Obama in high school described his personality exactly like that. That he was always BS’ing, always full of hot air, always bumming cigarettes, etc.

I don’t think one thing is illegal in Washington for the elites, not even underage sex. Not a smidgen of corruption. Not one...

Having lived around DC for three years (left last year), I can say this.

First, this mythical tax revenue thing is a bust. By the time that a real legit dealer puts up a building, hires three employees minimum, and runs the shop six days a week...then you tack on the city’s expected tax deal (property tax, marijuana tax, etc). At that point, he’s busted the limit and he’s more costly than Gus who peddles on the street, with no building, no heat, and no tax.

Second, based on commentary out of Colorado....the only way you get ahead in this business is to grow your own stuff and sell via your own store. The minute that you get stuck into buying it...you got issues. In DC, where exactly are you going to grow the stuff? Maybe in some abandoned warehouse, but with the climate there....it’s got to be heated and sun-lamps provided, which adds more onto the cost.

Third, DC is an odd place. Northwest DC, it’s less than 10-percent of the population who smoke marijuana. North-central, maybe forty-percent. And southeast? Ninety-percent over the age of fourteen smoke the stuff. You’d think all the marijuana shops would be in the southeast then....but crime is such a problem that the majority of shops are planned either in north-central or north-east.

Surprising.

Clearly, everyone in DC is utterly and completely trashed all the time anyway.
