Ebola response ignores history’s lessons: Risks from AIDS were discounted and thousands died
Washington Times ^ | 10/31/2014 | Robert Knight

The last time we treated a deadly disease as a political problem instead of using time-tested medical precautions, we doomed many hemophiliacs to early deaths, along with hundreds of thousands of homosexual men.

I was thinking about the HIV-AIDS epidemic while perusing the Obama administration’s latest rationales for rejecting mandatory, 21-day quarantines of health care workers and others coming from Ebola-stricken nations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the incubation period for Ebola is two to 21 days. Why not err on the side of safety?

The similarities are striking. When HIV-AIDS erupted in the early 1980s, activists opposed restrictions on donated blood, claiming that it amounted to “discrimination.” The blood supply was compromised, leading to transfusion-related infections of many, including tennis star Arthur Ashe, and thousands of hemophiliacs, including child victim Ryan White.

A 1995 Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine report was summarized in USA Today: “Despite mounting evidence that AIDS was spreading among hemophiliacs, the agencies did not act quickly enough to prevent the spread of HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B through blood and blood products, the report found.

“By the mid-1980s, about 10,000 hemophiliacs were infected with HIV. Many passed the virus on to their wives, who could then infect their children. About 5,000 people with hemophilia and HIV have died. The result was one of the biggest medical disasters ever.”

Political activism also halted contact tracing and early testing for HIV, which might have saved thousands of lives. Such aggressive responses, we were told, would “drive the epidemic underground.”

So here in 2014, we’re being told that imposing a quarantine on passengers from Ebola-stricken nations would drive the epidemic underground.

HIV and EBOLA: How Political Correctness Will Get You Killed!
The ongoing – and expanding –Ebola situation and how it’s being handled (or, more accurately, NOT being handled) has a parallel with the HIV panic of a number of years ago.
It may ALSO be another manifestation of the schizophrenic nature of the hard leftists who unfortunately sit at the levers of power in this country and whose double-mindedness should now be clear to all but the dullest among us.
Allow me to explain.
A San Francisco (where else?) based and HIV infected “leader”of the homosexual community began a serious campaign encouraging fellow HIV carriers to attempt to bypass or defeat the donor screening process and actively donate into the national blood supply. When pressed as to his justification for jeopardizing the entire nation, he declared that if HIV spread out into the “straight” community, it would almost certainly catalyze and accelerate the search for a vaccine.
Am I the only “conspiracy buff” to see the similarities between that and what’s going on today vis-a-vis Ebola?
I hadn’t thought about this angle until I heard Rush recently ranting about some author who’d written that because Liberia was founded by former slaves who returned to Africa, it was our unfortunate institution of slavery that is directly responsible for Ebola in the western nations of Africa. (Please note that I stop FAR short of the recent utterances of Calypso Louie Farrakan who claims that Ebola was created by evil white men to kill blacks!)
But I digress. That reasoning that America is responsible for Ebola – if it can be called “reasoning” – holds that it is America’s place to come to their rescue with a “cure”. And how better to “catalyze and accelerate” that process than to INFECT as many native born Americans HERE with the disease as possible?
Now here’s where the schizophrenia comes into the picture:
There is a growing group of folks who believe that the earth cannot support the current population approaching 7.3 billion. The bulk of them are in the same leftist camp as those now directing the present halfhearted “effort” against Ebola. Many of them are one and the SAME people directing the Ebola thing! The most radical of them embrace the words of a speaker at an early green movement/save-the-earth rally in California. Odd coincidence that, aye? He declared that “Man is the ultimate DISEASE of nature.” He got a standing O for that line!
From that meeting and others still being conducted, the greenies now believe that the 7.3 billion MUST be reduced to around 1 billion or less. And which members of which nations, ethnic groups or races are “eliminated” is irrelevant – so long as THEY are excluded!
Scriptures informs us that “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” The writer must have known a fair number of the leftists of his day.
Back to my question.
If, on one hand, the leftists are sincere in their effort to SAVE THE EARTH from overpopulation, why would they attempt to save the victims of Ebola and allow them to come here?
Could it be that allowing them to come here with the disease (and sending 3,000 potential military carriers THERE to bring it back with them) while portraying these actions to the noinfo masses as the compassionate thing to do is part of the same scheme attempted earlier by the HIV crowd?
I suggest that we prepare ourselves for the spread of the this 60% to 90% fatal disease among the population of this nation. (This may have been the reason for the Homeland Security “drills” about some “zombie apocalypse”.) This IS, after all, the same America that is hated by Obama and the One World leftists now in control here as the source of every evil committed in the rest of the world and for which evils it must be properly punished?
Do I really think these miscreants – living in their sanitized and safe gated “compounds” — would do that?
After witnessing 6 years of this gang’s criminal behavior, I absolutely think that!

PS: With respect to the controversy concerning ebola’s ability to be “airborne”, last time I checked the stuff that is emitted from one’s nasal passages during a sneeze is mucosa (the polite word for snot) and, inasmuch as it came from the body, I suspect it would qualify as a “bodily fluid”.
Given that, does it not follow that if another person were to catch one of those sneezes full in the face, eyes, nose, mouth or somewhere else where an opening in the skin were present, the virus could be introduced into that person’s body?

Death and Satan politics for the affirmative action in health. Truly a communist concept.

Underground, overground, so what; the goal should've been to keep it in Africa.

Ebola, Global Warming, all are vehicles to destroy America.

And as for speeding up for a cure if little kids get infected by gays, I do not even believe the gays were that much into solidarity, but in a cynical worship for sickness as a mode of gaining political clout vs.good and healthy.

We are de facto facing the chrystalization of a satanic party coming out the closet, and homosexuality is a vector in this with all the emotional baggage it carries.

these people were not shunned but their now coming out mentality certainly should now.

AIDS quickly became a protected-class disease, which resulted in the deaths of millions.
It was because the politicians saw an opportunity to create a big victim group.
Ebola is now a protected-class disease. The politicians don’t care how many people die from it, as long as the deaths are “fair” (Whites dying as much as Blacks).

It wasn't so much that aids was discounted, as it was the "Prison/Slavery" system was making big bank off plasma and blood sales. Naturally these Fed institutions of money making were exempt from screening.

Billy Jeff, & Sir Edmund know all too well about selling poison blood to the Canadians!

Ahhhh...they are transmitted differently. They have different incubation periods.

Aside from the fact that they both kill lots of Africans, they are really quite different diseases.

Very astute. With the internet and widespread education and literacy, it is becoming easier than ever to see the workings of the devil in his twisted minions and their evil schemes.

Such aggressive responses, we were told, would “drive the epidemic underground.”

Isn’t that the entire point of prevention in the first place?

I also remember a veterinarian warning an arrogant CDC MD that he thought the disease a sexually transmitted retrovirus and the CDC ignored his thoughts and fears. It took a French MD virologist to confirm what the US veterinarian thought two years before.

Obama “science” czar John Holdren spoke and wrote at length about exactly that.
Depopulating the United States to “save the earth” for nebulous reasons.
“Possibly through disease”.

I was thinking about the HIV-AIDS epidemic

It's still there but once the homosexual community got the funding to combat AIDS under the Bush administration that they were lobbying for, the conversation ended and the lifestyle has now been glorified.........

You can criminalize the willful passing on of a disease such as AIDS - you can't criminalize having it or in the case of Ebola, "might possible sorta maybe have it".

Fine line involved when one allows the Government to suspend individual Constitutional Freedoms as conveniently as one can carry a prophylactic around with him "just in case".

"The Common Good" is a left-wing "reasoning" for many of our losses of Freedom so far - where is the line defined?

I really don't know, but I have seen folks decide that there are other situations where it seems to make sense to do something w/o considering the Constitutionality - to paraphrase Ben Franklin, "One who gives up Freedoms for security deserves neither".

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Progs, commies, socialists, fascists, leftist of all stripes MUST ignore all empirical evidence — how else could they believe the fairy tales that they do?

Only this time the results of their failure to heed lessons of history could lead to millions of deaths.
