Grimes files injuction against RPK for mailer; McConnell exploring legal recourse on KDP mailer

...

The Grimes campaign reacted late Friday to a mailer circulating in Eastern Kentucky that looks like an official election notice, with bold text reading: “Election Violation Notice.”

Once opened the mailer lists claims Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes made in a TV ad that have since been rated false by the Washington Post.

The mailer was sent our by the Republican Party of Kentucky...

The Grimes campaign filed an injunction on Friday afternoon requesting that “both state and federal authorities to investigate what, on its face, appears to be a clear violation of both Kentucky and federal laws.”

Jonathan Hurst the campaign manager for Grimes said the letter was a ploy by the McConnell campaign to “intimidate Kentuckians” in a statement sent to the media.

“Of all the terrible things Mitch McConnell has done during this 30 year career in Washington, this last-ditch campaign he authorized to intimidate Kentuckians and prevent them from exercising their right to vote is unquestionably his most despicable,” Hurst said.

Meanwhile, the McConnell campaign announced they were exploring legal options on a mailer the Kentucky Democratic Party sent out...

“Alison Grimes spent hundreds of thousand of dollars defaming Senator McConnell and his wife on television with an ad she knowingly aired after it was found to be false and is now attempting to stop the Republican Party of Kentucky from correcting the record. The only legal question that should be pending in court is the Grimes campaign’s reckless attempt to sow racial division among Kentuckians with false information. Their overt targeting of minority voters with false and inflammatory claims in connection with an election must be stopped, and we are exploring all legal options available to do so,” said McConnell spokeswoman Allison Moore.

In my perfect world...McConnell loses...and someone else becomes Senate Leader.

Grimes is no prize either. They both deserve to lose. I just didn't want to give up the senate seat to a liberal.

Cleansing all the “moderates” won’t happen in this lifetime.

Nice strawman you have there. Who is advocating cleansing "all the moderates"? That's a stupid thing to say.

I'll be happy getting rid of one or two every election cycle; heck let's pick off three or four - that'd be great! Lather, rinse, repeat...

But with your attitude, I guess since cleansing all the "moderates" won't ever happen in this lifetime, then it's not worth the effort. Best to keep voting for those "R" candidates no matter how much they stink. Yeah, that's progress [rolls eyes]

This isn’t about primaries.

It was. Just ask Chris McDaniel, Matt Bevin and a host of Conservatives that 'got a taste' of what you are cheerleading McConnell of doing.

My comment isn’t about primaries, this is about sticking it to the RATS!

When the rat and rino share values and policy, lie as easy as breathing and hate all we stand for, what is the net gain in supporting either? Was Reagan wrong when he said we shouldn’t turn the party over to the RINO wing of his time? Because the rino wing of our time is far worse.

You gotta admit that that McConnell mailer is pretty shady. If I see something addressed to me with "ELECTION VIOLATION NOTICE" in big letters on the front, I'm going to think somebody is after me.

True, but considering the usual racial-incitement ads Grimes has been running in local KY Black media, and having actually looked at the images of the mailer that are online (saying on the front that the recipient of the mailer is being targeted for fraud, rather than being investigated for it), I'm really not that bothered.

It does, amusingly, bring to mind the charges by some here several months back that there was no way that McConnell would ever go after Grimes as hard as he went after Bevins. I don't particularly like the guy, but no one can say that he's holding back in taking shots at her.

No need to address me that way.

The best opportunity to cleanse “moderates” is in the primaries. That time and opportunity has PASSED for now. A shot was taken at Mitch and it failed. In the future, it might be a good idea to chose candidates that show better judgment than to speak before cockfighting groups. Bevin said enough stupid things to lose three elections.

Most people here try to address others in a civil manner. Please try to show a little class in the future.

Matt Bevin did it to himself - McConnell just exploited it. McConnell didn’t force Bevin to put false things on his LinkedIn resume, he just informed people of it. McConnell didn’t force Bevin to send out a letter praising the bailouts years ago after making supposed opposition to it a cornerstone of his campaign, he just told people about it. McConnell didn’t force Bevin to go to a cockfighting rally, then subsequently get him to deny knowing what kind of a rally he was speaking at until hidden video footage surfaced - he just told people about it.

Now what was done to Chris McDaniel on the other hand...is something else entirely.

Agree - people like Ben Sasse are tea party candidates that have a good head on their shoulders and aren’t gaffe machines that damage the credibility of the whole movement.

IOW, when the Ruling Class GOP does this to Conservatives, you are silent. When they do the same to 'Rats, you cheer.

Got it.

One man that has hurt conservatives the most is Rove. I wish that clown would go away.

I’ve turned nothing over to RINOs, and I don’t feel sorry for Grimes.

Beat McConnell in the next primary.

You obviously swallowed the McConnell propaganda hook, line and sinker.

Oh well.

What was done to McDaniel is what McConnell and the GOP Ruling Class will do to every Conservative daring to run in a primary if they see that as a threat to their power and control.

Well, yes, you have. You are willing to give Mitch 6 more years to attack conservatives and assist the democrats. Thus you are as much the problem for empowering him as the RINO you empower. And by extension, responsible for all he does since you helped put him there KNOWING what he is.

That’s simply reality. Live with it.

And how, exactly sir, did I address you? Perhaps you can point that out? Or are you unaware of what that accusation means? You were making what is called a straw man argument, and I told you such an argument is stupid, which is correct. That hardly rises to the level of an offense to addressing you personally. As the owner of this forum says, this is a free-wheeling website; if you cannot take criticism of the things you say, then perhaps you should post elsewhere.

Oh dear! Will you be offended by this graphic? Better find your fainting couch and some smelling salts!

sour grapes. This happens all the time, it’s not shady it’s called a “teaser”. The democraps use this all the time and will use it next election cycle.

In a perfect world, McConnell would defeat Grimes and then retire in favor of a more conservative Republican.

McConnell won't retire (gracefully), he'll have to be FORCED to step down ~ hopefully, due to the loud cries and demands from conservatives, everywhere. Maybe we'll have to all show up on Capitol Hill to oust his sorry hind.

Don’t plan on it. Look at this thread. Are these the people gonna force anything? By going to DC? They can’t even -NOT- vote for the fraud at their own polling place much less go somewhere to complain.
