I held my nose in ‘08, in ‘12 I covered my eyes as I pulled the lever....
He is only a back-bencher because the GOPe refuses to give him a decent bench.
But, that’s how the Establishment guys do it. They settle on one candidate, the Conservatives run 6 or 7 and they divide up the Conservative vote in the Primaries and the RINO waltzes to the coronation. HOW CAN WE GET A CONSENSUS ON ONE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE?

Romney: Gay couples should have right to adopt
In an interview with Neil Cavuto of Fox Business Network, Romney was asked whether he believes the gay marriage debate is a new civil rights movement, as some Democrats have framed the issue.
“I don’t see it in that light,” Romney responded. “I believe my record as a person who has supported civil rights is strong and powerful. At the same time, I believe that marriage has been defined the same way for literally thousands of years by virtually every civilization in history and that marriage is by its definition a relationship between a man and woman.”
He added that “if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, even want to adopt a child — in my state, individuals of the same sex are able to adopt children. In my view, that’s something which people have the right to do, but to call that marriage is, in my view, a departure from the real meaning of the word.”

Romney:LDS handed out limited number of deferments during Vietnam war, but made sure Romney got one

In 1965, as an undergraduate at Stanford, Romney not only supported the war in Vietnam, he participated in pro-war protests. That same year, he sought and received his first deferment.
A year later, Romney received a longer-than-usual 4-D deferment, which allowed him to do Mormon missionary work in France, despite the fact that other “young Mormon men elsewhere were denied that same status,” and the Mormon Church, which backed the war, “limited the number of church missionaries allowed to defer their military service using the religious exemption.”
By 1969, Romney had completed his work in France, but sought and received new deferments.
Many years later, in 1994, Romney said, “It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam, but nor did I take any actions to remove myself from the pool of young men who were eligible for the draft.” That wasn’t true — he took several steps to remove himself from the eligibility pool.[end excerpt]

Priebus: GOP platform ‘not the platform of Mitt Romney’
The official platform language poised for approval at next week’s Republican National Convention doesn’t fully represent the party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Mitt Romney, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said Tuesday.
On the heels of Rep. Todd Akin’s incendiary remarks on rape, NBC News has confirmed that next week’s Republican National Convention platform could include calls for the “Human Life Amendment,” which would outlaw abortion in all circumstances, even in cases of rape or incest. Republicans are gathered this week in Tampa to draft official platform language, and potential language calling for the adoption of a constitutional amendment to curb abortion rights has drawn newfound scrutiny.
The RNC’s platform committee is set to vote Tuesday evening on draft language related to abortion, which calls for “a human life amendment to the Constitution,” along with “legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.”

“I think as far as the details of some of these things, like an exception for rape or life of the mother, these are not uncommon differences that candidates have and don’t share some of the detail on some of those exceptions,” Priebus said on MSNBC. “This is the platform of the Republican Party; it’s not the platform of Mitt Romney.”
The party adopted identical language in its 2004 and 2008 platforms, which doesn’t talk about exceptions or granular details, but also doesn’t specifically stipulate an exception to bans on abortion in cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother.
The RNC platform has invited renewed scrutiny because of an uproar this week over comments made by Rep. Todd Akin, the GOP candidate for Senate in Missouri, in defense of his opposition to abortion in instances of rape. He said that “legitimate rape” rarely results in pregnancy, a statement for which he’s since apologized and said was factually incorrect.
(The Romney campaign said in its statement Sunday disagreeing with Akin that the former Massachusetts governor would not oppose abortion in instances of rape.)
Republicans are especially sensitive, though, to the revived debate over abortion in part due to the fact that President Barack Obama holds a healthy lead over Romney among women voters.
“Although these particular comments have led Gov. Romney and other Republicans to distance themselves,” Obama said of Akin’s comments during a press conference on Monday, “I think the underlying notion that we should be making decisions on behalf of women for their health care decisions — or qualifying forcible rape versus non-forcible rape — I think those are broader issues, and that is a significant difference in approach between me and the other party.”
The Obama campaign also launched a TV ad making issue of presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s voting record in Congress, which called for stripping funding for Planned Parenthood, and other efforts to curb abortion rights.
“I don’t really buy the fact that a pro-abortion stance means that you’re pro-women,” Priebus said in his MSNBC appearance. “I think the pro-life position is a positive for us with women, not a negative.”
Republicans could still change the draft language before tonight’s platform committee vote; the full convention is slated to vote on the platform on Monday.

McInsain was the hardest vote I ever caste in my life. I truly loathe the man to the point of visceral hatred. He is such a low life, backstabbing sleaze bag. Had Palin not been on the ticket I would have voted third party she is the only-only reason I voted for the Republican candidate.
I have had my fill of the moderate wing of the Republican party, they are as exciting as reading directions on how to give yourself an enema. But I believe the GOPE would rather see any democrat elected than allow a conservative near the nomination, they are that pathetic and that liberal.
It has to be a person (male/female) that the base will believe in and would give their trust to (a person with a record so, we can see how they do match up to the liberal agenda which is hurting more than claims to be helping).. therefore the base becomes excited to go out at the grassroots level (like many of us have done for conservative candidates).
AS the establishment begins their inner damage cycle, (destroy the conservatives) our strength in numbers will endure to the message carried by a strong candidate. It’s sad to say, but the GOP has enemies within the party who are against their own platform as most have figured this out now.
The candidate will have to be able to work against these odds and it can be done. There has to be a good team out there who really wants to do good for the country, not like we have now. ( Causing divisions and pushing a radical sole agenda while giving the finger (disrespect) to more than half of the population). It’s common sense to not like or to have no faith/ trust in Obama and his party. Nothing mean about expressing that unless you are a fool and or are wanting something from this administration..

Imo-the reason the Gope is more threatened by conservatives than democrats is because they (GOPe) are democrats. They share the same goals-the transformtion of the USA away from the Constitution, and into a Socialist paradise.
The GOPe "gets" to run a candidate when the dems have pushed too hard and angered the people. The GOPe comes in to "give" people a "choice of the lessor of two evils".
Ted Cruz has the correct take on this. Whoever runs in 2016 on the GOP ticket has got to draw a sharp contrast to the Dem candidate.
Cruz is absolutely right; but, the GOP will probably do it, anyway.
I suspect the long gray line of RINO candidates is part of the GOPe’s strategy to destroy its former conservative base. As in:
You threaten to stay home if we run a moderate. We’ll keep running moderates until conservatives die off.
I can’t honestly see how the GOPe cares if a far left maniac is in charge, as long as they keep their jobs and perks, and get invited to the parties and Sunday shows.
