Cardinal Burke: ‘I’m Praying Very Fervently That This Coming Year This Confusion Will Stop’

Cardinal Raymond Burke, the Prefect of the Sacred Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, the highest court of the Catholic Church, said in an interview with CNSNews.com recorded Friday that he sees “a very serious responsibility to try to correct as quickly and as effectively as possible the scandal caused by the midterm report” that was published during the synod of bishops discussing the family that met in Rome earlier this month.

He is not the only one. I am praying for the same thing.

Cardinal Burke is the one who welcomed me to the Catholic Church during my RCIA. He’s a strong and trustworthy guide, which is probably why he draws so much antagonism.

God bless this lion of a cardinal. Even if he is shunted aside, may he continue to speak the truth.

I have high regard for Cardinal Burke, but the ultimate softball question in an interview of a Catholic Cardinal must be, “Was Jesus right about mariage?”

The insistence of Cardinals Wuerl, Dolan, O’Malley, and Archbishops Chaput, Gomez, and others, on giving Communion to pro-aborts, is a major source of the confusion about giving Communion to gay couples and adulterous couples. The principle involved is precisely the same: It is a mortal sin to give anyone Communion when doing so scandalizes the entire parish or the entire Church.

All these prominent Cardinals and Archbishops simply do not seem to accept that they are bound by the moral law or by canon law. Indeed, the main reason many men plot and strive to become bishops is that they become untouchable by any law and any authority. The Popes do nothing. Their fellow bishops say nothing.

Except Cardinal Burke, which is why he is so hated among the lawless men in the hierarchy. (Named above.)

Well, it may be softball question, but the answer of Cardinals Wuerl, Dolan, O’Malley, Kasper, and the majority here and in Europe is, “No.”

“if we don’t uphold the sanctity of the marital bond we have really not only abandoned the Catholic faith but really abandoned the Christian faith in the sense that we are abandoning the natural law itself.”

...and if the Christian faith is abandoned by the new leaders of the “(c)atholic Church...will Burke and Benedict “pray and reflect” or will they take action?

Worse, "It depends . . ."

Burke has already acted. By speaking where and how he has, he is giving the Pope an opportunity to clarify his statements, and true them up with the Teachings of Christ.

I know, right?

It amazes me that clerics who supposedly know that Jesus is a Person of the Triune God, clerics of the Jesus Who is called the "Living God", could convince themselves that Jesus would not still know the precise state of the human heart in 2014, and every hair on our heads.

Did they think the Book of Revelation was written about the past? Do they think its predictions have already come and gone?

Jesus, who Was and Is and Is to Come, told the disciples where to drop their nets to find fish. Jesus told the disciples where to look down the road to find a young donkey for him to ride. Jesus turned water into wine. Jesus knew that the strange woman by the well had five husbands and was living in sin. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead after three days. Jesus restored sight in the blind with His spit. He knew which disciple would betray Him. He restored the severed ear of a Roman soldier. He repeatedly demonstrated his supernatural understanding of the past, present and future.

Yet, gay lovers think that because He made no recorded comment in the scriptures about homosexual "marriage", that it is an OK thing to do. As if He just couldn't see that far into the future — the future of a world He had already conquered.

He did make many comments on fornication, adultery and the sin of whoring. Homosexuality is just fornication within the same sex. It is never open to life and certainly is never a respectful coupling.

‘Go and sin no more’ eliminates the ability to be involved in a homosexual affair and still be in God’s grace.

All of them, including the “orthodox” Chaput, insist on giving Communion to pro-aborts. This means that, in principle, ANYONE who approaches for Communion must be given Communion.

Cardinal says church under Pope Francis is a ‘rudderless ship’

VATICAN CITY (RNS) American Cardinal Raymond Burke, the feisty former archbishop of St. Louis who has emerged as the face of the opposition to Pope Francis’ reformist agenda, likened the Roman Catholic Church to “a ship without a rudder” in a fresh attack on the pope’s leadership.  In an interview with the Spanish Catholic weekly Vida Nueva, published Thursday (Oct. 30), Burke insisted he was not speaking out against the pope personally but raising concern about his leadership.

“Many have expressed their concerns to me. At this very critical moment, there is a strong sense that the church is like a ship without a rudder,” Burke said.  “Now, it is more important than ever to examine our faith, have a healthy spiritual leader and give powerful witness to the faith.”

Burke is the current head of the Vatican’s highest court known as the Apostolic Signatura, but he said recently he is about to be demoted. There is speculation he will be made patron of the Order of Malta, a largely ceremonial post.

“I have all the respect for the Petrine ministry and I do not want to seem like I am speaking out against the pope,” he said in the interview. “I would like to be a master of the faith, with all my weaknesses, telling a truth that many currently perceive.”

“They are feeling a bit seasick because they feel the church’s ship has lost its way,” he added. Burke has expressed an uncompromising stance on keeping the ban on Communion for Catholics who divorce and remarry without an annulment, and is one of five conservative cardinals who aired their views in a new book, “Remaining in the Truth of Christ,” released on the eve of the bishops’ blockbuster synod in early October.

When the synod signaled a more welcoming tone to gay and lesbian Catholics, Burke publicly accused the global gathering of bias and was among those who pushed for a less conciliatory approach in the final report.  Burke had previously said that Catholic families should not expose children to the “evil” of homosexuality by inviting a gay son home for Christmas with his partner.

In his latest interview, Burke said the church was “the pillar of marriage” and challenged the pope’s revolutionary “Who am I to judge?” remark on gay people.  “The acts must be judged; I do not think that the pope thinks differently. They are sinful and unnatural. The pope never said we can find positive elements in them. It is impossible to find positive elements in an evil act.”
