Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) told Chuck Todd today that the reason Barack Obama is unpopular in Louisiana because the state is full of racists and sexists.
“And, number two, to be very, very honest with you the South is not always the friendliest place for African Americans. It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader. It’s not always been a good place for women to be able to present ourselves. It’s a conservative place.”
Governor Bobby Jindal (an Indian American) released a statement in response to the outrageous attack.
“She appears to be living in a different century,” he said in a statement. “Implied in her comments is the clear suggestion that President Obama and his policies are unpopular in Louisiana because of his ethnicity. That is a major insult by Senator Landrieu to the people of Louisiana and I flatly reject it.“
Seriously? She’s saying all of those ‘sexists’ elected her to the Senate? WTH???
She’s trying to gin up the black voter. If Landrieu has to gin up the Race Card TM now, stick a fork in her - she’s done.
And Nagin is in jail....Life is good!!
Sounds to me like she needs a big black turnout, or it’s lights out

I assume she’s trying to get out the black vote, but insulting the majority of your constituents is probably not a very good way to do it.

These are the same people who campaigned against Bobby Jindal in his Senate bid by pointing out to the voters that Jindal wasn’t white.

If the majority of people in Louisiana are sentient beings, Landrieu is over. She just slammed down her trump card.
Correction, it was his first bid for Governor - not Senate bid.
So, is it then fair to say that in areas where he is popular is also due to racism?
Would it also then be fair to say that the electing of a black president has in fact turned everyone in this country into a race on one side or the other?
I feel like everyone in this country has been boiled down to the single element of race because of Barack Obama.
