1. Note the "yuck" argument used by the judge. Try to use the "yuck" argument in a debate with GLBTQ defenders and see what reaction you get.

2. In any event, the "yuck" argument is rendered moot by the equal protection claims used in several court decisions overturning state same-sex marriage bans.

If you go to your family reunion to meet women, you might be a Yankee.

"...While the laws against “parent-child and brother-sister marriages . . . are grounded in the almost universal horror with which such marriages are viewed " Since when does "almost universal horror" mean anything? Most states voted against homo "marriage" based on the "horror with which such marriages are viewed ", and you black-robbed **** suckers told us to go take a hike. But incest marriages just make you all uncomfortable, so that is ok to be illegal?

The State officiates marriages
which even Andy Cuomo won't do - still living common law by choice.
The Church Blesses marriages when performed by priests/ministers .

“Incrementalism.

Sadly enough, you are correct. Back in 2012 when Minnesota had an amendment on the ballot that would have clearly defined marriage, I made the same argument to a number of people - and was scoffed at.

I said “If we legalize gay marriage, what will come next? Trust me, I don’t think you want to go down that path.”

And with this ruling, we are slowly but surely headed in that direction.

Misleading headline. They were half-uncle and half-niece, which gave them the same degree of genetic relationship as first cousins.

These days you can have a half-uncle and half-aunt, and it’s the same person!

Now the folks in West Virginia can make jokes about marrying relatives about us NYers.

I think the the law was good and should have been upheld, but that is not the point.

What is far worse is that the court overturned the law based upon nothing except “we don’t think it should be illegal” and “they do it in Rhode Island”. That is NOT the role of the judiciary. If the law is a bad one the legislature should vote to repeal it and the governor should sign the bill into law.

It is infuriating that in NYS the courts are totally impotent when it comes to striking down clearly unconstitutional laws like the NY unSAFE Act or in restraining the general unconstitutional power grab by the executive branch, (that even left wing Democrats have criticized) but will strike down perfectly valid and properly passed laws, like this one, on a whim.

I never could understand why WV was made so much fun of in general, and then I moved and lived there for 4 years and found out, it's because it's true! Prior to living there, I wouldn't have said such things.

You’re right, of course. But until legislatures develop the will to start impeaching a few judges, this will only get worse.

I've been scoffed at for just the same thing. People have laughed in my face when I said the same techniques used by the homosexual agenda to normalize homosexuality could be used to normalize pedophilia.

But we're already seeing the table being set for that, too.

Hey -- take it easy on West Virginia! I have a recently divorced friend from Bloody Matewan who was relieved to find that he and his ex were still legally cousins! Living the dream in the Free State of McDowell !
