Prepare for Scott Walker 2016; If He Wins Re-election, He's Our Man
The American Spectator ^ | Oct. 27, 2014 | Aaron Goldstein

With a little more than a week remaining before the mid-term elections, most conservatives are focusing upon a dozen Senate races, as Republicans are expected to gain control of the upper chamber.

But the contest that piques my interest the most is the gubernatorial race in Wisconsin, where Republican Governor Scott Walker is locked in a dogfight with Democratic challenger Mary Burke. Walker’s re-election is very much in doubt, despite the accomplishments of his first term: putting Wisconsin’s fiscal house back in order, reforming the state’s collective bargaining process, and giving local communities greater control over their affairs.

According to a Marquette Law School poll released on October 15, Walker and Burke are in a dead heat, with 47 of likely voters preferring each. The dial hasn’t moved much since. Exactly a week later, a Rasmussen poll had Burke up by one; the following day, a St. Norbert College/Wisconsin Public Radio poll had Walker up by one. A quintessential toss-up.

Should Walker prevail, he will have, in the space of four years, outlasted the occupation of the state legislature by union and other left-wing activists, survived a recall election—the first governor in U.S. history to do so—and earned a second term in his own right, all while governing as a conservative in one of the bluest states in the nation. Liberal organizations have dedicated more time and money to beating Walker than any other Republican, and yet Walker has taken everything these liberal groups have thrown his way and still come out on top.

He seems a little bland, but he definitely has the ability to get positive things done.

You have to be quite a bit more than an able manager to win the White House as a Republican. It takes personality on top of a laundry list of other important qualifications.

If Walker doesn't have the charisma to inspire people at the gut level, he'll go nowhere.

No. He dissed TEA Party conservatives.

What the......?

If that's true, he's already lost a good portion of the conservative vote. Sounds like he'd be a Boehner/McConnell ally, rather than a true conservative leader.

he says incumbent (liberal/establishment) Republicans shouldn’t even be challenged in the primaries.

good and bad?

When bad is dumping “social issues”, amnesty and not challenging bad GOPers even in the primaries, those are some pretty dang BAD things

I don’t live in Wisconsin so I look at what is going on there and I ask why is this even close. But I was just looking up Ronald Reagan election results when he ran for re-election in 1970 and he only got 52% of the vote. I hope Wisconsin wises up.

Jeb Bush and Susana Martinez? Also a wild card is Senator Mike Johanns, who was also Nebraska’s governor from 1999-2005. I am quite sure his name will be popping up.

We can only pray that the people of Wisconsin have the sense to vote for Walker.

Ditto. And 2016 would be just great for a President Walker. We would be so lucky.

I am sure Tea Party Conservatives are stronger then you let on. Just because a person gives some disagreements over this or that. It’s not like the voters especially tea party are weak. Who cares what he said. I want him as President. He is a person of action. Cruz although good is just not a guy to get things done. Although a good talker which is what we are getting as President these days so yes I am sure that a talker like Cruz will fit in well since we have Obama.

he is a person of action...

he’ll give us amnesty and citizenship for illegals and will turn the GOP into a party with no stand on gay marriage and abortion.

The GOPE is bad enough without all that.

Please don’t believe the lies. He has been spreading them for years. You can tell that many FREEPERS already know to ignore this.

Oh brother. Obama can’t even get immigration reform. You think a Republican will? Well President Reagan managed it but he is the only president in history. We will not have immigration reform in our life time.

Well, Geron made a pretty serious charge against Walker, but he also backed it up with links to discussions, which I suppose support his contention.

I haven't followed Gov. Walker all that closely, but I gather he's been good for Wisconsin. That doesn't automatically mean he'd be a good choice for the Republican nominee. He could be a crony capitalist RINO who 'reaches across the aisle' to 'get things done', for all I know.

I'm from Texas, and I wouldn't recommend my Governor for President. He's no more conservative than John Boehner, in my estimation, though lots of Freepers and other conservatives like the guy.

I'll have to do my own due diligence on Walker.

From what I’ve seen here about Walker, no thanks. As for governor good hair of Texas, absolutely not. After hiring the worse of the worse elite/establishment advisors — Steve Schmidt and one of Haley Barbour’s kids, LaRaza Rick has proven himself unqualified for higher office, and surely anything but conservative.

Scott Walker would be a good potential VP candidate on the Ted Cruz 2016 ticket.
Wow! That would be a great ticket.

I like that idea a lot! Go Cruz! I think he and Walker could take it home.

Walker is a RINO and Pro-AMNESTY!!!!!!

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) broadened his support for a pathway to citizenship on Tuesday, the Wausau Daily Herald reports.

In a interview with the Daily Herald's editorial board, Walker said the government should "fix things for people already here." He continued that if the current process for citizenship wasn't so "cumbersome," there wouldn't be problems with people living in the United States without documentation.

Walker also dismissed concerns over border security, an argument frequently used by other Republicans against reforming the U.S. immigration system.

“You hear some people talk about border security or a wall or all that,” Walker said. “To me, I don’t know that you need any of that if you had a better, saner way to let people into the country in the first place.”

Compared to Bush, huckabee, Romney and the rest of the cast from

Walker is great.
