Can Marijuana Fuel Jihad?
Canada Free Press ^ | October 26, 2014 | Cliff Kincaid

Potheads defend their addiction by insisting that marijuana can make people lazy, dumb or hungry, but not violent. However, the case of Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the Canadian Islamic terrorist killer, proves otherwise.

Zehaf-Bibeau was an Islamist, as well as a pothead. In another notorious case of jihad, one of the Boston Marathon bombers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was not only a dope smoker but a dealer.

It appears that Dzhokhar’s brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev was implicated in a Jewish triple murder case in which thousands of dollars’ worth of marijuana and money were left covering the bodies. All three victims’ throats were slashed.

It may be too early to draw a direct connection between jihad, marijuana, and mass murder, but it is worth considering whether consumption of the drug can alter the mind to such an extent that jihad becomes appealing to some mentally unstable individuals....

I remember reading that through the centuries Muslims used pot to fuel assassins.

marijuana can make people lazy, dumb or hungry, but not violent

Both Michael Brown and Trayvon disprove that notion.

The word “assassin” comes from hashish, which was given to members of an Islamic sect during the Crusades. The original Assassins would kill either Christians or bad Muslims, confident that they had already seen a glimpse of paradise.

So...smoking marijuana, not islam, caused Michael Zehaf-Bibeau to become the Canadian Islamic terrorist killer?

Does that mean islamowhackjobs won't be terrorist islamowhackjobs as long as there's no THC in their system?

Hash vs pot?

I guess you don’t know much about THC.

Short answer: No.

I'd respond with a point by point rebuttal of every piece of inane misinformation, logical fallacy or bizarre inference in this article, but it would take me a week.

Agreed - it was an lame attempt by the author to support his preconceptions.

Maybe so. But that doesn’t change the fact they were named after hash, not pot.

If I went back to smoking pot they would only have to
worry about me attacking someone with a Twinkie tm.

I say the key to stopping jihad is to make jalapeno peppers illegal since most Mexican drug lords seem to like them.

Stop the peppers, stop the drug trafficking, stop the jihad.

The article asks, “Do we see a pattern here?”

I say yes...losers smoke pot.

Most of it. I shouldn't be so flip about it, at least in one regard.

I don't know if this has changed since the class I took, but THC used to be difficult to classify, since it had a different effect depending upon dosage.

In small amounts, it acted like a stimulant. In larger doses it acted like a depressant. In massive doses, assuming the user didn't pass out, it could become an hallucinogenic.

From what I hear, average potency has gone way up since the 60s.

Also, there are a lot of other compounds that change its effects, in addition to the concentration of THC. Pure THC, closer to what you'd have in hashish, is a different "buzz" than what you'd get smoking a joint with all the other compounds changing things.

With super strength THC altering brain chemistry of a brain that has allah playing in the background? Sure, it could be just the right, wrong combination.

I'm not ruling out the connection and I don't mean to sound that way.

I just reacted to what initially sounded to me like terrorism is marijuana's fault rather than allah telling them what to do.

That is just freakin stupid. Marijuana doesn't make psychotic maniacs.

These people are the world's worst rejects that love killing. They love exerting power over others using intimidation and terror.

If you were to put methamphetamine or cocaine in that context, I'd have a tendency to agree. These particular drugs will cause paranoia, psychosis, aggression as well as physical strength, stamina.

Pot acts as a sedative and kills motivation. Besides, these rag heads don't have powdered donuts and lays potato chips necessary to keep the troops...well, you know, like, ummm, like fed and stuff and everythang.

but THC used to be difficult to classify

I probably should have said "marijuana is difficult to classify" not "THC", since I think that is how it's categorized.

It's been a while since I read that and I might have gotten how they list it wrong. Age and a couple those head shots might have taken a toll on my memory.

I wasn’t talking semantics, I was talking chemistry.

Pot: THC

Hash: THC

One method of making hash: running through pot fields with a leather apron and scraping the residue off the apron after many brushings up against the plants. The residue is hash. Comes directly from pot.

And BTW, the pot that is smoked nowadays is probably stronger than the hash of the middle ages.
