Maybe so. But that doesn’t change the fact they were named after hash, not pot.

Hash: THC
One method of making hash: running through pot fields with a leather apron and scraping the residue off the apron after many brushings up against the plants. The residue is hash. Comes directly from pot.
And BTW, the pot that is smoked nowadays is probably stronger than the hash of the middle ages.
