Billionaire Paul Allen says he'll contribute at least $100 million to the fight against Ebola.
The Microsoft co-founder said Thursday that among the initiatives he's supporting is the development of two medevac containment units that the U.S. State Department can use to safely evacuate health workers who become infected.
Allen, who is worth more than $15billion, said he's working with the World Health Organization to increase its capacity for handling the logistics of transporting international aid workers, and he's establishing a fund to help cover the costs of emergency transportation of the workers.

Great generous gesture but probably the wrong time to donate as you couldn’t get more corruption in this world than right now.
How bout we just stay out of Africa and use your cash to build facilities and research HERE?
Common sense, but that isn’t something often used.
You’re right.
Liberals throwing away their money, love it.
I’m in general agreement with that, but it’s still wealth being transferred out of the U. S.
If it’s spent here, I’m all for it. If it’s sent there to burn off, I’m not.
$100 million bucks can spark a lot of economic activity. That sparks even more.
Paul Allen just doesn’t throw his money out there.
He oversees, or appoints people to oversee, where it goes to.
He’s one of the few that do this.
^Which is how it should be done.
bless him for being generous. it’s his wealth.
Or build the facilities in Africa and quarantine anyone infected in Africa IN AFRICA.
He’s also one of the 1% that the Occupy snots rant and rave against.
That is how it should be done.
If Ebola is going to be controlled, it will be in Africa where it will be beaten. It likely will never just go away but the natural reservoir exists and it is there it must be beaten. It’s in our self interest to beat it there.
Just think of all the jobs created and all those grateful people working all the time to create the facilities and of course, protect this country. Our money should be spent here for once.
Agree, but it’s in this country now and we should have our own facilities built.
The specifics please are never mentioned. Who will it be given to, how will it be spent, and who has ultimate authority over it? These points are never mentioned, nor is it the intent of the recipients to ever acknowledge it, whoever they may be. Tell me there wont be a bunch of corrupt politicians in Africa that will quickly retire on another continent, or off shore island as a result of this.
My point? Liberals give to further their own interests, not to really solve the problem intended. All form, no substance. There has been millions given for “mosquito nets” in Africa. Really? Just bring back DDT and problem solved. But we can’t have that, not politically correct.
Remember the Concert for Bangladesh? Not one penny ever made it to Bangladesh. Look it up.
It’d be nice if he’d spend some of his money to make an operating system that was halfway secure
No argument there. We’ve got to protect ourselves period. I just think that part of that is going to have to be done in Africa. Here we’ve got to protect our medical workers adequately and move victims into isolation and care as quickly as possible. Quarantines are an essential part of this. What we are now doing seems to be opening us up to a big domestic problem which is unnecessary. Limiting travel into the USA seems to be a no brainer. At the same time, I’ve no problem with treating care givers from Africa as we have successfully done.
Billions are no going into Africa, but until they have administration teams on the ground to distribute that the governing bodies will pocket much of this.....and why Africa never rises above it’s state of affairs.
The want to handle their own government but far to many do not have the ability to do that. Corruption rules the day.
