Great generous gesture but probably the wrong time to donate as you couldn’t get more corruption in this world than right now.

Paul Allen just doesn’t throw his money out there.

He oversees, or appoints people to oversee, where it goes to.

He’s one of the few that do this.

If Ebola is going to be controlled, it will be in Africa where it will be beaten. It likely will never just go away but the natural reservoir exists and it is there it must be beaten. It’s in our self interest to beat it there.

It’d be nice if he’d spend some of his money to make an operating system that was halfway secure

If this rich clown wants to really hit Ebola he needs to organize teams to kill and eradicate fruit bats as much as possible. The kind that live in African caves. Go in with flame throwers, poison them, dynamite cave entrances etc etc.... Whatever it takes.

Fruit bats are Ebola reservoirs. Get rid of them and the Ebola threat goes down 90%

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...
