Dr Rand Paul Should Be Held Accountable for Whipping Up Frenzy About "Incredibly Contagious" Ebola

hether you enjoyed your weekend or sheltered in place wearing personal protective equipment, you may have missed the news that officials are preparing to clear four dozen people who had direct or indirect contact with Dallas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan after he’d begun shedding the virus, but before he was finally admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

The 21 days since doctors belatedly diagnosed Duncan marks the end of Ebola’s incubation period, and none of these contacts—including family members who’d been caring for him in very close quarters after he’d become gravely ill—has developed any symptoms of the disease.

That’s mostly just good news for the people in quarantine, and the city of Dallas. But it should also mark a turning point in the political fight surrounding Ebola, which last week saw Republicans make the strategic decision to embrace undisguised appeals to panic and paranoia.

PROJEECTILE VOMIT ALERT!!! (Title shortened to fit)

Paul isn't swallowing the Media Matters-approved Current Truth, so he must be vilified!

I wonder what the authors medical degree is in, that allows him to make such health pronouncements, declaring he knows so much better???

Yah! Yah! He should be held ACCOUNTABLE. Turn him over to the Committee for Public Safety and maybe have him meditate on his unmutualness in the Bastille for a while.

Notice how the media now falls in line when Obama appoints a political hack for Ebola Czar.

The new progressive strategy is to try to embarrass anyone concerned about Ebola.

All they need to do is keep a lid on this thing for two more weeks.

My guess would be that dead Liberian and his family were taking effective precautions even before they took him to the hospital. All of the interviews I have seen of his relatives indicated that they already thought that his symptoms indicated that he had contracted Ebola before he received the correct diagnosis.

As is typical for Rand Paul, he has been pretty stupid, this time about Ebola and troop ships.

“”“You also have to be concerned about 3,000 soldiers getting back on a ship. Where is disease most transmittable? When you’re in a very close confines on a ship, we all know about cruises and how they get these diarrhea viruses that are transmitted very easily,” he said. “Can you imagine if a whole ship full of our soldiers catch Ebola?”””

Why would the Army be using a Navy ship to transport all of the various military personnel making up the 3,000 involved in Africa, from all kinds of units, and branches of the military, and all at once, and why would they be doing it in a manner that could disable or wipe out all of them?

On this one, he's correct. Why would anyone expose people to Ebola, then put them on a crowded ship? If it didn't spread easily, medical professionals taking precautions wouldn't catch it.

Sometimes Rand Paul says questionable stuff. But you know what? I could be ready for someone who tells it like he sees it, even if I don't always agree.

I wonder what the people of Liberia think of the authors assertions?

Think about how silly and ignorant his concerns are.

Why would the Army be using a Navy ship to transport all of the various military personnel making up the 3,000 involved in Africa, from all kinds of units, and branches of the military, and all at once, and why would they be doing it in a manner that could disable or wipe out all of them?

They think he’s going to run in 2016 and of course, they are helping their dear leader before election. Paul’s on his own as far as I am concerned. My energies are elsewhere.

Lets review a common liberal talking point on Global Warming:

“Even though we aren’t 100% sure we are causing climate change, the results are too terrible to risk, so we have to act. And, there is no downside to taking action against climate change.”

Apparently that line of thinking doesn’t apply to Ebola....only imaginary threats.

When the story first broke, there was a timeline of events, which described one of the relatives as a nurse’s aid of some sort...and it went on to say she ‘sprinkled’ bleach on the furniture.

And, it also recounted how she went to the store to buy Duncan a $50 blanket - which I find interesting. Apparently she didn’t want to contaminate any blankets they already owned?

It seems this family strongly suspected he had Ebola, and took precautions. Even the fact that Duncan somehow scraped together enough money to fly here indicates that he knew he may be infected, and had to get out of Liberia right away.
