When government at any level can demand participation with any religion, Freedom of Religion is lost to all. Two very important statements from the article:

(1) "The Muslim event was characterized as the mosque's Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, but it allegedly had nothing to do with appreciation of police officers. According to Fields' attorneys, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day involved the captain and his officers taking a tour of the mosque, attending a meeting with the mosque's leadership, attending the Muslim's weekly prayer service, acquainting the police officers with Islamic religious reading material, and lectures on Islamic beliefs."

(2) "Originally, the police officers were asked to attend voluntarily, but the majority of officers refused the invitation. At that point the police were mandated to show up at the mosque."

When an American is courageous for not going to a Mosque, we are in deep, deep trouble.

Fascism is here in the USA. I will never go to a meeting of bearded headchoppers.

It boggles the mind how this guy can be treated like this, when our kids can’t carry a Bible on public school campuses. They can’t pray. They can’t start a religion club Christian centric.

Bring a burka to school day, or read the Koran day, or force a cop into a mosque, why not?

Time for some massive law suits.

When I was a little boy I was taught that it would be a serious sin if I attended a church that was not Catholic Church. Why force People to visit a different Church.
If there was a crime going on, you can bet the Muslims would keep the authorities out.
This is just a ploy by Muslims to use our own laws against us.

Here’s the thing. If I’m getting paid by the Department, I go where they tell me to go. I’ve had to attend some less-than-optimal functions with unsavory characters and listen to tripe, but it’s part of the job. I’m sure both sides have valid points in this discussion, though.

He should have embraced the Tolerance and brought a bag of pork ribs to share with one and all. Just being neighborly.

The 10th Circuit decision, by two justices, both GHW Bush appointees, and one district judge from Colorado, Obama appointee, is markedly mealy-mouthed, and reads like nobody wanted to give this Captain a fair shake.

On the downside, the Supreme Court justice who gets appeals from the 10th Circuit is Sotomayor.

Who were the elected public officials and the Mayor? Pressure should be placed on them as well! The order to retaliate came from somewhere....where’s the rest of the story?

It looks like now once you signed up to a government style position, you are bought and directed what you can and cannot do to an extreme rendition now a days. I wouldn’t had attended that either. The police departments are infested with political correctness i.e.. dangerous liberalism.

Apparently now there’s a religious test in order to hold a public office.

Here's from the federal government guideline:

"Coercion of Employees' Participation or Nonparticipation in Religious Activities. The ban on religious discrimination is broader than simply guaranteeing nondiscriminatory treatment in formal employment decisions such as hiring and promotion. It applies to all terms and conditions of employment. It follows that the Federal Government may not require or coerce its employees to engage in religious activities or to refrain from engaging in religious activity. For example, a supervisor may not demand attendance at (or a refusal to attend) religious services as a condition of continued employment or promotion, or as a criterion affecting assignment of job duties. Quid pro quo discrimination of this sort is illegal."
