St. Louis Police Officer Fatally Shoots Teen Incident Sparks Protest Echoing Those in Nearby Ferguson, Mo.

An off-duty St. Louis police officer shot and killed a black teenager Wednesday evening, triggering protests in a metropolitan area that has been rattled by weeks of sometimes violent unrest in some neighborhoods following a high-profile police-involved shooting in August.
The white, six-year veteran of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, who was working as a private security officer, shot and killed Vonderrit Myers Jr., an 18-year-old black teen, following an alleged struggle and after the teen allegedly fired a pistol at the officer, according to the department’s chief.
The officer, 32, was patrolling the Shaw neighborhood in St. Louis when he saw three men acting suspiciously, according to Col. Sam Dotson, St. Louis’s chief of police, in a news conference hours after the shooting. When approached by the officer, the men fled and the officer chased them, first in his vehicle, then on foot.
One of the men stopped and approached the officer in what Col. Dotson described as an “aggressive manner” while the officer yelled at the teenager to stop and that he was under arrest, Col. Dotson said. The two then began fighting and the officer pulled off the teenager’s gray hooded sweatshirt before the teen turned to run from the officer, he said.
As the teen ran, he turned and fired three shots from a Ruger 9mm pistol before the officer returned fire, according to the police chief. The suspect’s pistol jammed, yet he didn’t drop the weapon and kept attempting to fire, according to Col. Dotson. The officer eventually shot and killed the teen, firing 17 rounds.

The black community comes out at night and always has. You can drive in a black community in the day and won’t see a soul. This produces suspicion right away. Of course they have guns and drugs and live in a culture that is full of crime on themselves as well as anyone getting in their way. Why do they live at night?? I think the answer lies in the liberal welfare that allows laziness and schools that refuse to actually teach blacks. Years ago our school had blacks that were never bothered when they slept through class. Expectations were zero unless they were playing basketball.
Police have a contempt for blacks that results in their fatal actions against them and the suspicion usually prove true, such as guns or drugs.
The only answer is let them police themselves and shut off the welfare. Sink or swim. Forget diversity and let us all sink or swim. We use to have neighborhoods with Italians, Chinese, etc. It’s the only answer. If you look at any culture that has been “helped”, you will find decadence and despair. There are plenty of black churches that help with the transition.

Back in the olden days if a cop shot someone who was found to be unarmed, the cop would drop a cheap RG-22, IMP, Raven or Jennings pistol on the perp, NOT a high dollar Ruger.
There is a less lethal option. Feral thugs from the Black Underclass don't commit violent crimes that make it highly possible for them to be shot and killed by the police. I know that's asking a lot from those people not to commit violent crimes, but there it is.
this is a school day, why wasn’t he in the house doing homework....why didn’t his parent(s) teach him better than to open fire on an armed police officer????
I'll bet the officer was armed with a Glock 17, and why did he shoot the "teen" 17 times? He shot him 17 times because that's all the cartridges a Glock 17 will hold.
Why is an 18 year old a teen? He’s an adult. He was armed. He’s dead by his own actions.

Reports DO NOT state that the perp was “shot 17 times”.
Reports do say that 17 rounds in the officer’s firearm were expended.
17 shots? It is clear that this officer needs lots more range time.
Actually, I am happy see the race of the kid mentioned, since I also know so many white guys named Vonderrit.

He will be forced by the media and the race hustlers to flee his career no matter how right and justified the defense of his life was.
