Well that’s great. The question is how useful will this audit actually be, and how truthful? In the 3 years since the birth of this site we have chronicled plenty of examples of waste in the military. It is PERVASIVE. The level of waste speaks frankly to a culture of accounting negligence at the Pentagon which is perhaps only rivaled by the chicanery at the Federal Reserve. Heads (and many many heads at all levels) should have rolled long ago. But, because a large portion of the American people have given the US military a pass on waste (Republicans) nothing has been done for decades – really ever.
Here’s hoping this audit will actually do some good and by some miracle introduce some accounting accountability to the military. But we’re not holding our breath.
Remember, the military is some of the biggest government there is and should be considered as such. In this country our military should be small, lean, but capable. Right now it is far too large, bloated, and less nimble than it should be.

That’s a lot of crap to hide, when it takes 3 years.
The Egyptian Army arrested their al Qaeda leaders.
The PENTAGON should similarly examine their Oaths
(to the Constitution) and arrest the undocumented,
treasonous (Indonesian) Impostor.
I guess they sent all of their hard drives to the IRS for “cleaning”.
The HQ has done everything to fulfill the "Don't do as I do, do as I say" attitude for decades. I spent almost 40 years in the military and we had audits or inspections every two years. It didn't matter how well you kept the records.
I kept tabbed folders of everything they wanted to see and had them laid out on a table when they got there. They went through each section and by the time they got halfway through, they decided to give us a "go" in all areas.
Actually, it has been 24 years as the ACT that required agencies to have their books audited was enacted in 1990. I believe DOD is only top agency that has not have books audited as most agencies have been compliance since early or mid 1990’s. DOD is reason why federal governemnt has had a had a dislaimer of an opinion on the overall financial position of US governemnt.. They mentioned property as being a big issue for the reason but also the intergovernmental transactions between agencies has been big issue and DOD has had no idea of what agencies they have done business with and come up with numbers so elimination entries can be done at year-end..
Audit the Pentagon? The Pentagon is continually under audit by the Democrats, the leftists, the communists and all who hate America. Let’s start auditing the IRS, EPA, the Education Department, the Federal Reserve, all of the give-away welfare programs, Homeland security, the immigration and customs departments, HUD, and the White House. And lets not forget the Congress.
I was able to put off an audit.
For a day.
Because my Dad died.

At first glance I read that the “Pentagon is ready for an ADULT”. That actually made a lot of sense.
I worked in a bank.
The auditors had you leave the office. They made us take two week vacations. If stuff was wrong, your first day back was not fun.
I would love to see anyone in the government deal with that on an annual basis. We did not refer to it was the annual audit. We dropped one of the ‘n’s.

The entire point of an audit is to catch the target unprepared.
